Job Description
Shape the next generation of healthcare providers through high-impact nursing education delivered across classroom, clinical, lab, and simulation settings—including flexible evening and weekend classes on our Chicago campus.
In this campus-based role, you will teach, mentor, and evaluate our evening and weekend students while contributing to curriculum, service, and scholarship in alignment with Chamberlain’s mission.
Availability:
- Monday - Thursday 1-9 pm
- Friday - 8-5pm
- Possibly some Saturdays
What You’ll Do
Teaching & Student Success
- Deliver engaging nursing instruction across classroom, online, clinical, lab, and simulation environments using technology and evidence-based methods
- Create inclusive, student-centered learning experiences; identify individual needs and foster meaningful relationships
- Evaluate student performance; provide timely, constructive feedback and remediation
- Lead or support clinical learning experiences; connect theory to practice and ensure safe, ethical, and professional practice readiness
Curriculum & Academic Excellence
- Contribute to curriculum development and implement course materials
- Maintain academic standards by enforcing policies (attendance, exams, grading, late work)
- Ensure all work aligns with licensure, regulatory, and accreditation requirements
- Use technology, data, and AI tools to enhance teaching and student outcomes
Mentorship, Service & Collaboration
- Provide coaching and support to students and new faculty
- Participate in committees, program evaluation, and graduation activities
- Collaborate with faculty, Extended Service Teams, and clinical partners
- Build strong partnerships in a matrixed environment to drive results
Scholarship & Professional Development
- Engage in scholarly activities (research, application, and dissemination of knowledge)

Qualifications
Education
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field — Required
- PhD in a relevant field — Preferred
Experience & Skills
- 2+ years of professional experience in a related discipline — Required

- Experience creating engaging learning environments
- Conflict management and collaboration skills
- Emotional intelligence to support diverse student needs
- Proficiency with LMS platforms, simulation tools, and online learning technologies (AI familiarity preferred)
Licensure & Compliance
- Active, unencumbered licensure or certification as required — Required
- Maintain current clinical and regulatory credentials (as applicable)
- Meet state-specific teaching requirements (see licensure guidelines)
- Comply with clinical setting requirements (if applicable)
- Education and experience must align with state regulations
- Must be experientially prepared to teach assigned courses
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $97,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility. Job Description
Shape the next generation of healthcare providers through high-quality nursing education in classroom, online, and clinical settings, including through flexible evening and weekend classes. This role includes teaching, student evaluation, professional mentoring, committee participation, and engagement in service and scholarship activities aligned with Chamberlain's mission.
*Please note, we are looking for candidates with flexibility to teach in either our Daytime program, Monday - Friday 9-5, and our Evening/Weekend program which includes the following hours of availability: Monday - Friday 1-9 pm and Saturdays 8am-4pm.
Position Overview
- Teach assigned nursing courses (e.g.: classroom, online, clinical, lab, simulation), creating engaging learning experiences, using technology and evidence-based methods.
- Provide input to and implement course curriculum and teaching materials.
- Keep students first, know your students, identify individual needs, and foster relationships that support learning success.
- Evaluate student performance; provide feedback and remediation as needed.
- Lead clinical learning (clinicals, labs, simulation) or partner with Faculty that is leading labs; ensure students are practice-ready by connecting theory to practice and supporting safe, ethical, and professional practice.
- Contribute to the CU community through professional services (to include committees, graduation, and program evaluation).
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to students and new faculty.
- Engage in scholarly activities related to teaching and nursing practice such as researching, applying, and disseminating new knowledge.
- Maintain subject matter and teaching skills through ongoing professional development.
- Follow, understand, and enforce policies related to students (exams, late assignments, attendance etc.) and stay up to date with changes.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing
- Excellent communication skills along with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment
- Technological expertise with learning management systems, simulation equipment, and online platforms, increasingly ability to work with AI
- Create engaging learning environments and exhibit strong conflict management skills
- Collaborating across faculty, Extended Service Team, and clinical partners
- Emotional and social intelligence to recognize student needs, respond with empathy, and create a supportive, inclusive learning environment

- Maintain current regulatory and practice credentials, when appropriate, based on assignment
- For those working within the clinical setting, additional compliance requirements are needed and those requirements are located in the faculty compliance packet. *Education and experience must align with regulations in the state

Scholarship Requirements:
- Demonstrates scholarship congruent with the level of rank. Activities that would be considered as scholarship have three characteristics. Scholarship must be: 1) made public, 2) open to critical review and evaluation by knowledgeable peers and 3) accessible for exchange and use by others
- The Faculty member is required to demonstrate at least one example within one of the four following focus areas of professional development and scholarship (detailed examples of each rank are outlined in the faculty handbook for reference): Scholarship of Discovery, Scholarship of Integration, Scholarship of Practice/Application, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Teaching Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience working in a clinical setting
- Experientially prepared to teach assigned courses
- Education and experience must align with regulations in the state. Complies with the rules and regulations of state authorization agencies, which may include the higher education board and/or licensing board in multiple states.
Additional Information
In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $95,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
