NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT POSITION SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner utilizes the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus in a correctional environment. The Physician's Assistant works with a variety of healthcare professionals/security officers in a correctional environment to provide basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician.


NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
  • Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
  • Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
  • Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
  • Documents all healthcare contacts.
  • Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
  • Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
  • Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
  • Attends training and meetings as required.
NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program
  • Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment

Position Details

CVT Charge Leesburg Cath Lab Day Shift Full Time

There are 3 Cath Labs at UF Health's Leesburg Hospital and 1 Electrophysiology Lab. The Director is a servant-leader at UF Health Leesburg Hospital and he is dedicated to the success of his team and the people of his community. This is a close-knit Cath Lab where collaboration and teamwork is celebrated. Responsibilities:

The Cath Lab CVT Charge, under the direction the of the director/manager person, monitors procedures, including all diagnostic and interventional coronary and peripheral studies as well as structural heart procedures, and works as a scrub assistant. The CVT Charge also assists with education and mentoring of students and new hires within the cath lab environment and facilitates the delivery of quality, safe patient care. This is a Full Time, Day Shift position.

Qualifications:
  • Education
    • Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Respiratory Therapy
    • In Lieu of education requirements, a minimum of five (5) years' experience and:
          • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification (Required within 12 months of hire) OR
          • Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certification (Required within 12 months of hire)
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration
    • FL Certified Radiologic Technologist license with valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification (preferred) OR

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Employee health and occupational medicine services
  • Travel medicine encounters
  • Acute and chronic care management for employees
  • Minor in-office procedures and testing:
    • COVID (Rapid/PCR), Strep, Influenza, Mono POCT
    • Urinalysis, HCG testing
    • Splinter removal, cerumen removal, eye wash for foreign body
    • Wound care (minor burns, cuts, blisters)
    • EKG interpretation
    • Pap smears, STD testing, breast exams, annual physicals
    • Evaluation and splinting of minor MSK injuries
  • Administer vaccinations (TDAP, shingles, travel vaccines) and allergy shots
  • Occasional phlebotomy if MA unavailable
