Director, Corporate IT
Menlo Ventures
oakland, ca
Compensation: 218.000 - 275.000

At Everlaw, we’re changing how legal teams at law firms, corporations, government agencies, and nonprofits find the information they need to achieve their truth‑finding goals.

We believe that technology should be a force multiplier for human intellect. As Director of Corporate IT , you will lead a lean, high-impact team dedicated to reinventing the future of knowledge work at Everlaw—transforming our corporate technology environment into a seamless, intelligent ecosystem that empowers Everlawyers to do their best work to achieve our mission:

  • Strengthen and scale global infrastructure across office and remote environments.
  • Treat the internal tech stack as a Product, prioritizing frictionless user journeys and high reliability.
  • Drive operational excellence through automation, Zero‑Touch provisioning, and responsible AI adoption.

This is a “player‑coach” position. You are equally comfortable defining multi‑year roadmaps as you are rolling up your sleeves to conduct root‑cause analysis, engineer out manual toil, and automate recurring friction points.

This is a full‑time, exempt position based in our Oakland office with a hybrid work schedule: in office M/W/Th with the option to work from home on Tu/Fr.

Getting started

  • We want you to feel like part of the team early on! Our onboarding process will integrate you into the company with informative sessions on our product, policies, processes, and team structure and goals.
  • We’re excited for you to learn, grow, and contribute right away! We trust that you’ll bring experience and knowledge that will uplift and uplevel the team, but we don’t expect you to know everything on Day 1.

In your role, you'll...

IT Strategy & Leadership

  • Define the corporate IT roadmap aligned with business, security, and compliance objectives.
  • Manage the IT operating budget and enterprise SaaS portfolio (Google Workspace, Zoom, Atlassian, Glean, etc.), balancing cost‑efficiency with long‑term maintainability.
  • Partner with the VP of IT & Security on organizational design and long‑term tech stack investments.

Modern Infrastructure & Endpoints

  • Zero‑Touch Endpoints: Drive automated lifecycle management and enforce security‑hardened configuration baselines for macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu via modern MDM (Jamf, JumpCloud) and identity‑driven workflows.
  • Hybrid Collaboration: Orchestrate reliable experiences across office and remote network infrastructure, including Meraki‑based LAN/WAN and high‑fidelity conferencing systems (Zoom, Google Meet, AV).
  • Physical Infrastructure: Partner with Facilities to lead technical design and execution for office expansions, encompassing low‑voltage cabling, MDF/IDF architecture, and wireless design.

Enterprise SaaS & Collaboration Tools

  • SaaS Visibility & Lifecycle: Develop a “Single Pane of Glass” for automated asset tracking and SaaS visibility, managing the full lifecycle from procurement and license reconciliation through end‑of‑life.
  • Portfolio Ownership: Optimize the corporate enterprise stack (Google Workspace, Atlassian, Glean, etc.) by leading vendor relationships, renewals, and rigorous tool evaluations that balance security, cost, and maintainability.
  • Enablement & Adoption: Drive high‑velocity adoption of core tools through automated workflows, clear documentation, and proactive training, ensuring IT remains a partner in productivity.

Identity, Access & Security Controls

  • Partner with Corporate SecOps and GRCT to operate and mature identity and access management for corporate systems, ensuring Corporate IT processes align with Access Management, Identification & Authentication procedures.
  • Engineer automated evidence collection and continuous control monitoring to meet SOC 2, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP requirements, ensuring IT compliance is a by‑product of good system design rather than a manual audit exercise.
  • Collaborate with Corporate SecOps to deploy and tune endpoint, email, SaaS, and network security tooling (e.g., EDR, DLP, VPN, password management), with clear RACI between IT operations and security operations.

Service Delivery Transformation

  • Treat the internal tech stack as a Product; drive an AI‑first service strategy that prioritizes self‑service, chat‑ops, and automated request fulfillment to reduce mean‑time‑to‑resolution (MTTR).
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation across IT workflows (e.g., self‑service, request routing, approvals, provisioning/de‑provisioning, chat‑based support).
  • Monitor and report on service performance metrics (e.g., ticket volume, response and resolution times, CSAT), and use data to drive operational decisions.

Cross‑Functional Partnership, AI & Change Management

  • Strategic Liaison: Act as the primary IT partner for Security, Facilities, Finance, and People teams; institutionalize clear change‑management practices to ensure high‑visibility projects are delivered with transparency and minimal friction.
  • AI & Automation Catalyst: Architect the corporate AI roadmap—from AI‑assisted support agents to intelligent knowledge search—partnering with SecOps and GRCT to ensure responsible adoption and demonstrable ROI.
  • Strategic Accelerator: Lead IT’s contribution to company‑wide regulatory and growth programs (e.g., FedRAMP, global expansion), ensuring technology is a proactive enabler of business goals rather than a bottleneck.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing Corporate IT team in a lean and fast‑paced environment.
  • Foster a culture of service and accountability , providing mentorship and clear career paths.
  • Set high standards for documentation, runbooks, and operational rigor.
  • Operate as a hands‑on player‑coach , comfortable switching between strategy, architecture, and day‑to‑day execution.

About you

  • You have over 10 years of experience leading Corporate IT in a modern, cloud‑centric environment, including people management responsibility.
  • You thrive in high‑velocity environments. You maintain a calm, constructive composure and proactively recalibrate priorities and propose paths forward when faced with shifting demands.
  • You have a track record of leading multiple large initiatives in parallel , structuring projects, tracking execution, and communicating clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • You have deep, hands‑on experience with Google Workspace administration , Okta or similar IdP , modern MDM/endpoint management , Meraki or similar enterprise network platforms , and AV/VC systems .
  • You have demonstrable experience operating ITIL‑style or similar service management practices , including SLAs, ticket queues, and continuous improvement.
  • You understand security and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001/27018, FedRAMP) and how IT controls, logs, and processes support audits and ongoing assurance.

  • You possess a Product Mindset for internal tools; you are a builder who views manual processes as “bugs” and has a track record of using low‑code/no‑code platforms (e.g., Workato, Okta Workflows) or scripts to integrate disparate SaaS systems.

  • You have a BA/BS or equivalent practical experience , and you actively invest in staying current with modern IT, security, and SaaS practices.
