The CNS-CARDIOLOGY (APRN) is a practitioner, educator, consultant and researcher who collaborates with inter-disciplinary team and advocates for an optimal experience for patients/families. He or she provides physical, emotional and spiritual support which impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The APRN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing. The APRN has in–depth knowledge of evidence-based practice within a specialty that results in competencies to expand the boundaries of nursing practice by, (a) addressing illness and promoting population health, (b) advancing the practice of other nurses and (c) developing organizational/system modifications to support and improve the practice of nursing.
This clinical expert is committed to evidence-based practice, professional standards of care, and code of ethics. Acts as a consultant to the patient, family, healthcare organization and community to assist patients to attain their maximum level of health in a manner sensitive to social and cultural diversity. The role of an APRN may vary based upon qualifications through licensure, accreditation, certification, education and job expectations. APRN practice is facilitated through the standard care agreement between the APRN and collaborating physician(s). Many APRN’s participate in clinical decision making, care plan development and prescribing practices. The age of population served is defined by their specific Advance Practice Provider license.

Description
Patient Care in adult cardiothoracic and general anesthesiology at NMG and such hospitals, office locations and health care facilities as may be determined by the President of NMG or his/her designee. Maintaining a clinical schedule on such days, such hours, and at such locations as necessary to provide timely and comprehensive medical services to NMG patients. Teaching of medical residents, fellows, medical students, nurses and other health care providers as may be required by NMG. Providing on-call coverage as reasonably required by NMG. Referring patients requiring specialized medical care to those specialists and other health care providers and facilities that are members of NMGs affiliated provider network, provided that such referral does not unreasonably interfere with the patients expressed preference for a different healthcare provider, his/her insurers determination of healthcare provider or the patients best medical interests in Physicians medical judgment. Regular participation in practice unit meetings and quality assurance activities. Compliance with billing, documentation and related policies, procedures, systems and practices established by NMG as payors with which NMG contracts. Performance of such other duties as are consistent with Physicians employment and as may be assigned to Physician by the President or his/her designee from time to time.

Qualifications

The selected candidate would join an established group of up to 6 Gastroenterologists and 5 Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants providing gastroenterology services in a physician-led, stable organization, committed to high quality patient care and satisfaction. Practice locations include a strong integration with the Division of Gastroenterology at Mayo Clinic-Rochester, MN, with opportunities for blended clinical, consultative, research, and teaching activities. This position is located in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Gastroenterology Endoscopy and Clinic practice and hospital consultative service with a well-established hospitalist program.
  • Operate in a setting where clinic, endoscopy suite, and hospital are co-located, with onsite Radiology (MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine) and interventional radiology services, plus on-site Infusion center.
  • Utilize Integrated EMR and imaging systems across locations for seamless coordination of care across GI locations.
  • Work from a dedicated physician workstation in procedure locations linked to the integration system.
  • Collaborate with gastroenterologists across Mayo Clinic practices in Rochester, Western Wisconsin, and Southern Minnesota.
