SUMMARY: Allegiance Mobile Health is looking for a compassionate and reliable EMT-Basic to provide essential pre-hospital care and emergency medical assistance. The EMT-B will respond to 911 calls, assess patient conditions, perform basic life support procedures, and assist in patient transport and transfer. This role requires strong communication, a calm demeanor under pressure, and a commitment to patient care.

Starting pay begins at $14/hr and is based on your DSHS certification level and years of experience. Your starting pay may be higher based on these factors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Responsibilities include, but not limited to)

  • Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls 24 hours per day, drives a variety of emergency vehicles in all road conditions including inclement weather, dense traffic and rural off-road settings.
  • Reads map books and follows written and verbal directions in order to respond in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Follows all departmental, local and state driving laws, policies and procedures.
  • Uses a variety of communication equipment and appropriately communicates verbally to dispatchers, EMS crews, first responders and other organizations according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains vehicles and equipment in a constant state of readiness and cleanliness.
  • Completes daily vehicle and supply checklists and assists with vehicle re-supply, vehicle and equipment decontamination and general readiness-related tasks.
  • Immediately reports, in writing, any discrepancies with vehicles, supplies or equipment and their state of readiness.
  • Provides direct patient care per Medical Director's authorization and protocols.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency in all patient care related instances.
  • Demonstrates physical competencies sufficient to allow him/her to lift, carry, transport and extricate patients in all settings, in some cases without assistance.
  • Interacts with multiple outside agencies such as Police Departments, Fire Departments and First Responder Organizations. Provides satisfactory customer service and projects professionalism in all contacts.
  • Successfully and accurately completes patient care reports, billing information and all other associated documentation in a timely manner.
  • Works under physically and psychologically taxing conditions to include inclement weather, temperature extremes, hazardous environments, loud noises and high-stress situations. High potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens, dangerous chemicals, sharp objects and fall/trip hazards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to include general housekeeping chores and special projects.
  • Must successfully pass departmental skills evaluation and fully complete NEOP process before staffing a truck.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift, carry, balance and push up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance).
  • Demonstrate flexibility and physical coordination by bending from the waist and touching toes, squat with legs parallel to the ground and kneeling with both knees firmly on the ground.
  • Climb 20 sets of stairs without rest within 60 seconds.
  • Demonstrate fine manual dexterity by performing job related clinical skills (starting IV's, intubating, etc.).
  • Have correctable vision adequate to read street signs, see in low light and read small print.

PSYCHOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Use good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in the face of adversity.
  • Have good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Function under situations of extreme fatigue due to little or no rest, extreme temperatures and inclement weather conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: •     High school graduate or GED. •     Certified as an EMT in the State of Texas •     CPR certification •     911 Areas – Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS). •     Communicate effectively •     Read, write, and interpret instructions in the English language •     Previous experience preferred in emergency care •     Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and be insurable.

This is a unique opportunity to expand a very busy regional referral-based practice in laryngology as well as practice general otolaryngology in an integrated health-care system. Our medical center features a state-of-the-art laryngology suite with a complete array of Pentax equipment to support all diagnostic and therapeutic laryngeal procedures including office-based laser surgery. In addition, our laryngologist enjoys the support of a Physician Assistant and Speech Pathologists well-trained in voice disorders and support for laryngeal procedures.

The nine OHNS physicians currently in the department provide a full range of services including general otolaryngology, laryngology/voice, otology/neurotology, endocrine surgery, sleep surgery, rhinology, and head and neck oncologic surgery. We work closely with our colleagues in maxillofacial surgery, thoracic and vascular surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, endocrine, and sleep medicine. Our medical center enjoys a strong affiliation with the University of California at Davis, serving as a teaching hospital for residents in many specialties, including HNS. We are also affiliated with several other residency training programs in HNS, MFS, and Emergency Medicine and are involved with medical student teaching through California Northstate University.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    • Provides careful handling of the patient in moving him to the ambulance vehicle.
    • Provides safe and efficient transport of the patient while constantly monitoring the patient and providing any appropriate continuing care within the limits of license and certification.
    • Provides orderly transfer of the patient to destination.
    • Upon arrival at destination with patient, responsible for cleaning, restocking basic supplies and placing the unit back in service as soon as possible.
    • When necessary, in the absence of other qualified rescuers and within limits of your training, use procedures to gain access to and disentangle patients who require extrication.
    • In the absence of other qualified personnel, controls the emergency scene, including parking the vehicle in such a way as to minimize further danger in the roadway as well as controlling the actions of bystanders.
    • Obtains information regarding the emergency from dispatch, communicates other emergency services as needed during the call. In the absence of, or as directed by more qualified personnel, communicates with receiving hospitals regarding patient status. Must follow FCC with regard to communications by radio.
    • Obtains and records information for the Company as well as those required by medical, legal, and health authorities. When assigned to an EMT-P crewmember, the EMT-Advance is generally responsible for accurate completion of the billing report.
    • Will make daily checks of the vehicle equipment and systems, and completes manifest and other reports/forms as required.
    • Reports needed equipment and vehicle repairs to Field Supervisor and Maintenance Personnel.
    • Responsible for precepting new employees and students/observers as directed.
    • Respects and holds in confidence all information of a confidential nature obtained in the course of professional work unless required by law to divulge such information.
    • Protects the public by not delegating to persons less qualified, any service which requires the professional competence of an EMT-Advance.
    • Refuses to participate in unethical procedures, and assumes the responsibility to expose incompetence or unethical conduct of others to the appropriate authority in a proper and professional manner.

      • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Monday - Friday: 7am-3:30pm, along with approximately 15 days of call per month (about every 3rd or 4th weekend).

    Overview

    A Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist, often referred to as a Cath Lab Technologist, is a healthcare professional specializing in assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves working closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to provide high-quality care and ensure the safety and accuracy of procedures.

    In this role, through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified physician, assists in the performance of cardiac and vascular procedures. Resulting in an accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart disease while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort. The Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist performs/reviews a baseline patient assessment, evaluates patient response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers during cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures. Provides patient care commonly used in the cardiac catheterization laboratory as requested and under the direction of a qualified physician. The Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist acts as a first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization.

    Education

    • A graduate of a diploma, associates, or bachelor's health sciences program (includes, but is not limited to cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) or a licensed/certified EMT or paramedic

    Certification/Licensure

    • BLS; ACLS required within 90 days of hire
