Senior Product Manager, Payment Foundations
Garner Health
New York, NY

Job Description

Job Description

Garner's mission is to transform the healthcare economy, delivering high-quality and affordable care for all.

We are fundamentally reimagining how healthcare works in the U.S. by partnering with employers to redesign healthcare benefits using clear incentives and powerful, data-driven insights. Our approach guides employees to higher-quality, lower-cost care, creating a system that works better for everyone. Patients achieve better health outcomes, employers spend healthcare dollars more effectively, and physicians are rewarded for delivering exceptional care rather than performing more procedures.

Garner is one of the fastest-growing healthcare technology companies in the country. Our products are trusted by the most sophisticated employers and providers in the industry, and we are building a team of talented, mission-driven individuals who are motivated to make a meaningful impact on healthcare at scale.

About the role:

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Product Manager to lead our Payment Foundations team, responsible for building a secure, reliable, and scalable platform for money movement across Garner. This role is the core platform enabling Garner's financial incentives, which drives best-in-class health and financial outcomes for patients and employers. This role reports to the VP of Product Management.

Where you will work:

This role will be based in our New York City office (in the Financial District). You must be willing to work in the office 3 days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

What you will do:

  • Own Garner's payments platform strategy and roadmap, including payment systems, financial ledger, payments data products, and payment operations tools.
  • Be the internal and external owner for Garner's payment partner and vendor integrations, including our payment processing and card vendors, bank partners, and HSA provider integrations.
  • Drive development of APIs, integrations, and platform capabilities that enable teams across Garner to initiate, track, and reconcile money movement safely and reliably.
  • Establish company-wide standards for compliance, financial reporting, and incident response.
  • Partner with product, engineering, operations, legal, and finance to enable 0-to-1 payments products and use cases. Example projects include designing a financial ledger to record member account balances and transactions, developing automated integrations with Health Savings Account providers to make deposits on behalf of members, and expanding reimbursement methods for members through Paypal or Venmo.

The ideal candidate has:

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience, including at least one role owning a technical or platform product end-to-end
  • Strong systems thinking and detail orientation — you instinctively look for edge cases and reason from first principles about how systems can fail
  • Strong technical background, with experience owning technical products APIs, integrations, and data systems
  • Superb written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for engineering, business, and external stakeholders
  • Bonus: experience building financial or other highly-regulated products, or large-scale financial systems
  • A desire to be a part of a high-performing, mission-driven team that operates with intense urgency, a strong sense of individual accountability, and a commitment to authentic feedback.
  • A desire to be a part of a high-performing, mission-driven team that operates with intense urgency, a strong sense of individual accountability, and a commitment to authentic feedback.

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing company in a transformative role, helping shape the future of healthcare.

Compensation Transparency:

The target salary range for this position is $222,000 - $245,000. Individual compensation for this role will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and applicable laws. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and competitive benefits plans, including but not limited to: flexible PTO, Medical/Dental/Vision plan options, 401(k), Teladoc Health and more.
