  • Work in conjunction with Director of Business and Grants, and the Budget Analyst to monitor Title III LEP & Immigrant budget and make amendments when necessary.
  • Purchase needed supplies, textbooks, and materials for the Bilingual/ENL & World Language programs.
  • Coordinate and conduct initial and annual testing of NYSITELL & NYSESLAT exams for English Language Learners as mandated by the New York State OBEWL.
  • Keep staff informed and updated on new initiatives from the local, state, and federal levels concerning Bilingual/ENL and World Language programs.
  • Provide Interpreters for Bilingual parent meetings, student NYS assessments and new student registration.
  • Progress Monitor district database information for all current, long term, SIFE, and exited ELL students ensuring all information is correct.
  • Work closely with Director of Technology regarding programming, NYSED reporting, and ELL data as it appears on student information system (Infinite Campus, Data Warehouse, etc.).
  • Receive, register, and enroll newly arrived immigrant families to the district and supply them with all pertinent information for additional services, i.e., partnering with Homeless Liaisons, Parent Resource Center, DEI Coordinator, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Evaluate all direct reports and other administrators as assigned. Direct Reports include but are not limited to Special Education Supervisors. Follows through other duties as assigned. The Executive Director of Special Education and Exceptional Learners’ duties will have been satisfactorily performed when the evaluation of this person is at standard or above on the applicable Performance Appraisal Criteria.

Minimum Training and Experience

Master's degree in special education, psychology, curriculum instruction or school administration with five to seven years as a special education teacher and considerable professional and successful experience in a position responsible for district-wide administration is preferred. A postgraduate professional license endorsed in Administration and Supervision is required.

Through knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and requirements related to special education.

Experience as a Principal is highly recommended and preferred.

Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required
