Operations Associate

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. The NYC Public Engagement Unit (PEU) identifies and executes proactive strategies to connect New Yorkers to key City services. Relying heavily on data analytics, new technologies, and large-scale outreach tactics, the unit identifies New Yorkers in need of assistance and helps them navigate and obtain City services. The Public Engagement Unit consists of teams of specialists who are trained to effectively engage New Yorkers and connect them with vital resources. The Unit uses data to identify demographics that likely want or need city services; and works with partner agencies, elected officials, community groups, non-profit organizations, and service providers to engage directly with communities and subject matter experts in all five boroughs. The unit is frequently involved in citywide events, special projects in conjunction with multiple city agencies, and targeted days of action. The Operations Associate who will report to the Supervisor of PEU Technology & Operations and support the day-to-day operational, administrative, and logistical functions across PEU programs and initiatives. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting operational coordination, inventory management, onboarding support, facilities coordination, event logistics, operational tracking, and internal communications. The Operations Associate will work collaboratively across PEU teams and with agency partners to help coordinate operational support, maintain organizational processes, and assist with special projects and citywide initiatives. This role requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements 1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or 2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Serve as the single-threaded Product Marketing leader overseeing product strategy for the Premium Brands collection. Work directly with business partners to ingest requirements. Define inclusion and exclusion rules, lead process and Business Requirement documents with Collections Product and Engineering teams, own development and execution of slicing, lead regular bug-bashing of live experiences, and determine appropriate filters (e.g., Odd, Inappropriate, Aesthetic). Collections end output should be bar-raising and drive significant iOPS.
  • Partner with content marketers to produce bar-raising Premium product collections in support of key NASM workstreams like Seasonal Events, Holiday, and HVEs. This involves translating a high-level content plan (e.g., Thanksgiving) into key product categories and brands, engineering a natural language prompt into our LLM, auditing the output, and adjusting accordingly.
  • Collaborate with channel owners to define targeting and experimentation opportunities for product collections. Bug bash Fabric or P13N slices to be recommendation/"front-window" worthy.
  • Partner with Browse and Merchandising teams to inform page wireframes based on collection makeup.
  • Contribute to narratives and flashes to gain leadership buy-in on strategies.
  • Report on the impact of collections and their performance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for processes improvement through the creation of SOPs and RACIs.

This position is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, cost, stakeholder communication, and project execution while providing retailers with strategic recommendations and solutions that support their business objectives.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Align with Ace's values, mission and vision of being helpful in all aspects of your role with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for retailers throughout the project lifecycle, providing guidance, recommendations, and support from initial project planning through completion.
  • Consult, develop, and close retail project opportunities using consultative selling skills during meetings with prospective retailers, conversion retailers, branch store candidates as well as renovation projects for existing retailers. Helping to understand project benefits, evaluate investment opportunities, and make informed business decisions regarding store growth, modernization, and operational improvements.
  • Inspire and motivate to action; prospects, retailers as well as Ace stakeholders to ensure maximum project penetration throughout the Project Managers respective territory. Regularly meet with retailers with the purpose to educate and inform on the benefits of a store renovation. This can be one-on-one or in a group setting.
  • Build strong relationships with retailers, District Managers, Retail Operations, New Business, Merchandising, and other cross-functional partners to align resources and achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Plan and develop scope of retail projects for expansion, relocation, renovation, conversion and new ground up stores. Partner Ace District Managers to support and provide the tools to have a meaningful discussion with their retailers on the benefits of a store renovation. Coordinate with the DM to develop a store renovation prospect list and develop a strategy to consult with the prospects on the benefits of a renovation.
  • Manage all resources both internal and external to meet established schedules for all projects assigned.
  • Assess the retail potential in key existing Ace markets for the opportunity to "Right Size Right Place" the store to maximize Ace market share by working closely with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Provide support in the review of potential real estate locations in cooperation with appropriate stakeholders to determine, from a project stand point, the locations' feasibility. Review and ensure Landlord tenant criteria and construction portions of lease are thoroughly evaluated and communicate such with all internal partners.
  • Track and maintain project updates via the current corporate project management tools. This will require updating of the system of various project tasks.
  • Conduct project site visits and communication calls to assess progress, validate quality standards, resolve issues, support retailers during implementation, and ensure successful project completion and turnover to Retailer and District Manager upon completion.

What You'll Need To Apply

  • B.S. / B.A. Degree in business administration or construction or commensurate experience
  • Capital project selling experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in project management, retail operations, store development, construction management, business consulting, account management, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Ace retail operations programs and initiatives.
  • Understanding of basic retail store operations and management.
  • General building construction knowledge preferred

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the instructor role is to deliver high-quality instruction that fosters student learning and cultivates a positive educational environment. The focus will be on teaching and assessing students in both classroom and laboratory settings. This position requires a commitment of 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week, with a 30-minute lunch break.

 

NextGen DRONE PROGRAM SUMMARY: This program provides comprehensive training in Next Gen Drone Technology (NGT) and drone technologies, equipping students with the skills to operate, maintain, and apply unmanned aircraft systems across industries such as construction, agriculture, utilities, and emergency response. Emphasizing safety, regulatory compliance, and real-world applications, the program prepares graduates for careers in the evolving aviation and drone workforce.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Part 107 drone license
  • Minimum of (3) years of drone experience.
  • Possess the knowledge, experience and certifications necessary to instruct in a variety of  areas where drones are used.
  • Strong customer service skills: must possess effective oral and written communication skills to accurately convey information and to effectively present information

The NextGen Drone Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for the following:

    • Demonstrate a commitment to student success.

    • Organize class time effectively and efficiently in order that learning activities can be accomplished.

    • Advise students on the importance of safety in relation to machinery, tools, and equipment.
    • Investigate and make a full report on every accident on the day the accident occurs, using the “Preliminary Accident Report Form.”
    • Be responsible for equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to shop and/or classroom.
    • Maintain an inventory of equipment, controls storage, repair, and usage of materials to minimize loss or abuse.
    • Stay connected with business and industry by making a minimum of 5 industry visits each year so that the curriculum can be updated to reflect changes in a high-tech society.
    • Establish an Occupational Advisory Committee comprised of a minimum of seven (7) industry leaders who advise on all aspects of the program and meets once each year.
    • Strive for the highest completion, placement, and licensure rates possible in support of student success (the accrediting body has minimal standards that must be met for the program to remain operational).
    • Keep and share with students continuously updated records of attendance and competencies acquired during their enrollment.
    • Evaluate each student’s progress at multiple intervals during each trimester and complete permanent records.
    • Assist, as directed by administration, in follow-up evaluations of graduates and their programs.
    • Help students, as opportunities become available and known, in job placement for both full-time and part-time employment.
    • Requisition equipment, supplies, materials, and instructional aids as needed, working within the perimeters of school guidelines and available funds.
    • Attend and participate in various school functions such as graduation, open houses, and other functions as assigned.
