Plant & Procurement Manager
DIRECT FENCE DISTRIBUTORS LLC
new york city metropolitan area

Plant & Procurement Manager

Direct Fence Distributors | Carlstadt, NJ | Full-Time | On-Site | Reporting to Executive Management Team

About Direct Fence

Direct Fence Distributors is a fence supplier, distributor, and installer based in Carlstadt, New Jersey. We work in vinyl, aluminum, chain link, and wood fencing, and serve customers across NJ, NY, PA, and CT. Some customers hire us to install, and others buy materials from us directly. We run two warehouses less than a mile apart. As we grow, we're hiring a hands-on leader to own the plant and procurement side of the business.

The Role

The Plant & Procurement Manager will run both Carlstadt warehouses. This person makes sure the right materials are in the right place at the right time: purchased, received, stocked, staged, and ready for every job, installation, and customer order.

This is a focused leadership role covering the plant, warehouse flow, purchasing, inventory, and production planning. It is not a general operations role. You'll directly manage our warehouse and plant laborers. A warehouse floor manager will support you with technical, hands-on training and guidance.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee day-to-day operations at both Carlstadt warehouses
  • Manage warehouse and plant laborers, including schedules, attendance, productivity, daily assignments, and accountability
  • Work with the warehouse floor manager so laborers get technical support and training when they need it
  • Lead production planning so materials are prepared and stocked on time
  • Handle procurement and purchasing, including vendor communication, delivery coordination, and lead-time management
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, cycle counts, stock levels, and material availability
  • Make sure materials are available before jobs, installations, and customer orders
  • Improve receiving, staging, warehouse organization, and material flow
  • Build and maintain systems such as checklists, reorder points, inventory procedures, and accountability standards
  • Keep ownership and management informed so operations stay aligned with company goals

What We're Looking For

  • At least 2 years of experience in one or more of these areas: operations management, supply chain, procurement or purchasing, manufacturing or production management, inventory control, warehouse or plant management, or production planning
  • Experience in manufacturing, building materials, construction supply, distribution, or another operations-heavy business. Fencing experience is not required.
  • A solid grasp of how materials, people, workflow, purchasing, lead times, and inventory accuracy fit together
  • Proven ability to lead, schedule, and hold a hands-on team accountable
  • A proactive, organized approach and comfort taking full ownership
  • Clear communication with ownership, management, vendors, and warehouse staff
  • A preference for being on the floor, spotting gaps, and building structure where there isn't any yet

Preferred

  • A degree in business, operations, supply chain, industrial management, or a related field. Strong hands-on experience with the right leadership and organizational skills will be considered in place of a degree.

Why Direct Fence

  • Real ownership of a critical part of the business. This is not a role where you carry out someone else's plan. You'll own the plant, warehouse flow, purchasing, inventory, and production planning, and your decisions will directly affect how well we serve our crews and customers.
  • A direct line to leadership. You'll work closely with ownership and senior management, without layers of approval. Good ideas get heard quickly and put into action fast.
  • Build the systems, not just follow them. We're looking for someone to design the procedures, reorder points, checklists, and accountability standards that will carry us through our next stage of growth. What you build here will be how Direct Fence runs for years.
  • A rapidly growing company. Direct Fence is expanding across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. As the company grows, so will the scope and impact of this role and the chances for the right person to grow with us.
  • A varied, hands-on operation. Between vinyl, aluminum, chain link, and wood fencing, and between installed projects and direct material sales, no two weeks look the same. If you like solving real operational problems on the floor instead of from behind a desk, you'll fit right in.
  • Visible results. When materials are staged on time, inventory is accurate, and jobs go out ready, everyone sees it. Your work shows up every day in the trucks leaving our yard and the projects our crews finish.
  • Support where you need it. You won't be doing it alone. A dedicated warehouse floor manager will handle hands-on technical training and guidance, so you can focus on leading the operation.
