SanTan Brewing Company is looking for a Craft Beer Brewer to join our team in Chandler, AZ. Located in the Phoenix metro's East Valley, SanTan was founded in 2007 in downtown Chandler, where we continue to operate a 15-bbl brewery & restaurant in our original location. In 2013, we added a production facility with a 50-bbl brewhouse, where we package beer in both cans and draft. SanTan branched out into distilled spirits in 2017 and is now Arizona's largest distillery in addition to our brewery. The Craft Beer Brewer will report to the Head Brewer and Production Facility's Operation Manager while joining a team of 100+ production and restaurant staff. Brewery personnel also move between our main production plant and brewpub restaurant, brewing on each of 3 systems. General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Communicate and treat fellow co-workers and other members of the SanTan team with respect
  • Adhere to a "Safety Always" mindset and comply with safety policies & programs
  • Approach every task with quality in mind, paying attention to detail & accuracy
  • Raw ingredient receiving/management
  • Operate brewhouse with maximum attention to detail and accuracy (milling, mashing, lautering, proper gravities, etc.)
  • Perform cellar duties as assigned (filter, carbonate, transfer/keg)
  • Ensuring that all reporting is done accurately and on time
  • Yeast management (harvesting, pitching and counts/viabilities)
  • Tank management (gravity checks, trub dumps and dry-hopping)

  • Mash press cleaning including removal of spent grain
  • Troubleshooting, technical maintenance and quality assurance

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Availability to rotate in to closing shift, typically 2pm 10pm and open shift, typically 5 am 1 pm
  • 6 months of experience working in multiple facets of a brewery
  • Strong technical knowledge of brewing, fermentation and the finishing stage of beer production
  • Fermentation/Brewing degree or certificate from an accredited college preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems
  • A great attitude and passion for craft beer

Below are brief descriptions of various job roles of a Production Associate on any given shift:

Hangers play a critical role in ensuring that products destined for the sales floor are properly hung and placed on the appropriate rack. Hangers must be detail oriented, paying attention to color order, sleeve length, and garment type.

Taggers are responsible for accurately affixing price tags to products in accordance with company standards and entering prices into the pricing machine. Working side-by-side with the Pricer, the tagger is expected to learn how to price items for the Sales Floor.

Pricer Support personnel work closely with Pricers and are required to learn pricing tasks to provide coverage during the Pricer's absence.

Tallyers are primarily responsible for meticulously counting items intended for the sales floor in adherence to company standards. Beyond counting, Tallyers also attach sensors to products that require them, paying attention to sensor placement and understanding different fabric types. Their attention to detail and accuracy ensures our inventory is precisely tracked and our products are properly prepared for the sales floor.

Runners promptly deliver priced merchandise to its designated location on the sales floor while maintaining organization and color order. They monitor the condition of the sales floor, addressing any safety concerns, and informing management if any area becomes overfilled, making it difficult for customers to shop. While maintaining the sales floor, they should be prepared to assist customers as needed.

Key responsibilities include performing diverse tasks and processes within backroom operations as assigned, maintaining cleanliness and organization in backroom areas, following company policies and procedures for efficient and safe operations, and collaborating with team members to meet production goals and support store operations.

Qualifications include previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or back of house experience, and a high school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical requirements include the ability to safely perform job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting both qualitative and quantitative productivity requirements. Subcontract Lifecycle Management
  • Administer subcontracts, task orders, and modifications from cradle-to-grave.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Experience performing price/cost analysis.
  • Experience supporting defense contracts.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting or preparing for a Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR).
