PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE:

The Application Engineer will be responsible for quoting, designing, procurement, and coordination of packaged mechanical systems for commercial and industrial applications. Packaged systems may include pumps, air compressors, heat exchangers, motors, piping, instruments, and control panels mounted onto a commonly fabricated steel base.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Quoting
    • Communicate with customers to determine requirements.
    • Formulate design to accomplish requirements.
    • Review design against established plans and specifications.
    • Price all system components and expected fabrication labor.
    • Generate proposal for complete packaged system and present to customer.
    • Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of all internal costing templates and quoting forms.

    • System Design
    • Select all major equipment including size, configuration, voltage, available options, etc.
    • Select all valves (manual and automated) and ancillary equipment for packaged system.
    • Generate P&IDs of proposed packaged systems.
    • Create mechanical layouts utilizing best design practices and fabrication methods.
    • Implement best design practices for hydraulic design and layout including knowledge of fittings and methods
    • Make selections of controls, instrumentation, and communication protocols for the package
    • Write technical documentation, including submittals and O&Ms.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshoot design-related questions after start-up
  • Purchasing
    • Quoting material and specified equipment
    • Work with the production team to coordinate the ordering of critical components.
    • Create purchase orders and send to suppliers.
  • Work with customers, shop, and engineering to schedule, procure and expedite packages.
  • Simultaneously handle a large and diverse number of projects and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence
  • Additional office/shop help as required.

Job Summary
