We are seeking a dynamic and caring Physical Therapist to join our per diem team at Berkshire Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center, an award-winning skilled nursing facility in Sandisfield.

We are a 57-bed all-male nursing home with a large veteran population and a majority of long-term stay residents. Up to $55 an hour.

Job Summary:

As a Physical Therapist, you will provide patient/resident assessment, care planning, direct treatment, and consultation to a general rehab caseload. You will also participate in the clinical team process, providing teaching and training to caregiver staff and supervising other therapists, assistants, aides, and students as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Screen patients/residents
  • Evaluate patients/residents and develop appropriate care plans

About the Job Your Role

In this key role, you will provide central office leadership in planning, policy development, and system coordination that influences critical resource allocation, DOC liability, and operational practices across the state. Your work ensures the safe and strategic housing and transition of over 12,000 Adults in Custody (AICs), contributing to the orderly operation of DOC facilities and supporting successful reentry outcomes. This position is vital to maintaining a balanced, research-based, and objective classification system that prioritizes the safety of AICs, staff, and the public.

As an Operations and Policy Analyst 3, you'll be responsible for overseeing and evaluating population management systems, conducting quality assurance reviews, analyzing system performance, and developing administrative rules and policies. You'll work closely with division managers, institution leadership, external agencies, and community partners to manage system-wide capacity issues, classification processes, and operational planning. The role includes times of direct in-person interaction with AICs related to their housing assignments, care, and custody.

This position also leads long- and short-term planning initiatives that have significant fiscal and operational impact on the department, the Legislature, and DOC stakeholders. Your expertise will help ensure consistency and fairness in classification decisions, provide critical management support to DOC leadership, and guide the department in meeting its mission of public safety and rehabilitation through data-informed, strategic population management.

This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four (4) years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.

Working Conditions

This hybrid remote position is based at Headquarters in Salem, Oregon. You may need to report in person within two hours, work on-site, or travel to institutions as required. This position will be required to work inside a Department of Corrections correctional facility during working and, in the case of an emergency, nonworking hours and is subject to assignment in other areas of the Department. This position will have contact with adults in custody and will be exposed daily to material of a graphic nature (including details/photos of AIC assaults and police reports outlining violent offenses) and to dangerous situations (e.g., verbal or physical assault) does exist when entering a correctional facility. The adults in custody have the potential for becoming angry, hostile, abusive, and aggressive, increasing the risk for employees of physical injury, death, and/or being taken hostage.

You are responsible for answering phone calls from callers who are often hostile, frustrated and lash out; must be able to answer their questions calmly and diffuse the situation. Will be required to participate in in-person meetings with maximum custody AICs who have violent history towards staff, other AICs and community members. Has regular telephone, email and in-person contact on a daily basis with staff throughout the agency, staff from other departments and agencies, defense attorneys, District Attorney's and the public. Often deals with sensitive issues that require confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.

In addition, a Driver CDL (B) is responsible for ensuring his or her vehicle is in compliance with the Company's safety standards prior to operating the vehicle, ensures that all Company, state and federal regulations are adhered to at all times while operating the vehicle, and completes vehicle condition reports (VCRs) on a daily basis to ensure that any vehicle defects are repaired in a timely manner.Principal Responsibilities:Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order.
