The Behavioral Medical Director position is responsible for providing oversight to and direction of the Utilization Management Program and performing peer reviews as necessary. This individual will interact directly with Psychiatrists, Behavioral Health Providers, and other clinical professionals who consult on various processes and programs. The Behavioral Medical Director is part of a leadership team that manages development and implementation of evidence-based treatments and medical expense initiatives and will also advise leadership on health care system improvement opportunities. They are responsible for maintaining the clinical integrity of the program, including timely peer reviews, appeals and consultations with providers and other community based clinicians, including general practitioners and will work collaboratively with the Health Plan Medical Director, Clinical, Network and Quality staff. Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring delivery of cost effective quality care that incorporates recovery, resiliency and person-centered services
  • Responsible for Level of Care guidelines and utilization management protocols
  • Responsible for oversight and management, along with the Clinical Director and Clinical Program Director, utilization review, management and care coordination activities
  • Provide clinical oversight to the clinical staff, oversee the management of services at all levels of care in the benefit plan
  • Keep current regarding Evidence Based Practices and treatment philosophies including those that address Recovery and Resilience

Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy
  • Current license to practice as a physician without restrictions
  • Board certified in Psychiatry
  • Demonstrated understanding of the clinical application of the principles of engagement, empowerment, rehabilitation and recovery
  • Knowledge of post-acute care planning such as home care, discharge planning, case management, and disease management
  • Computer and typing proficiency, data analysis and solid organizational skills necessary
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • 3+ years of experience as a practicing psychiatrist post residency
  • Managed care experience
  • Experience in public sector delivery systems and experience in state specific public sector services
  • Experience working with community based programs and resources designed to aid the State Medicaid population

Compensation for this specialty generally ranges from $258,000 - $323,000. Total cash compensation includes base pay and bonus and is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience and may increase over time based on productivity and performance in the role. The Associate Medical Director for Immunology, in collaboration with the Medical Director, will provide leadership for the Immunology Department at the Nichols Institute in San Juan Capistrano, one of Quest Diagnostics' several Esoteric Laboratory centers of excellence. In addition, the Associate Medical Director will consult with healthcare providers, other Medical Directors, senior Laboratory Management, and various Subspecialty teams throughout the Quest Diagnostics enterprise with regard to Immunology testing.

Responsibilities

  • With the Medical director of Immunology, oversee testing at the Nichols Institute in San Juan Capistrano for allergic and autoimmune disorders (including systemic and organ-specific diseases), markers of acute and chronic inflammation, monoclonal gammopathy, immunodeficiency diseases and measurement of therapeutic monoclonal immunoglobulins and their antibodies
  • Provide consultation to healthcare providers, medical advisors, other medical directors, medical affairs liaisons and customer solutions staff regarding inquiries about Immunology testing and interpretation of unusual immunology test results
  • Review Immunology procedures and suggest changes to improve assay performance, including sensitivity & specificity, efficiency and turnaround time
  • Provide clinical leadership for Immunology assays — from development through launch
  • Develop a strategy in collaboration with the Scientific Directors of Immunology for the short- and long-term vision for new immunology assay development
  • Partner with R&D and Regulatory teams on for Immunology assay development including clinical validations and submissions to meet regulatory requirements (FDA, CLIA, CAP, CLEP).
  • Participate in overall quality management of the Nichols Institute Immunology Department including quality control, proficiency testing, the overall testing process, corrective actions, CLS competency assessment and continuing education
  • Partner closely with various Subspecialty teams, product managers, sales and marketing staff to provide advice and guidance regarding medical, scientific, business and policy decisions involving Immunology testing
  • Interact with collaborators in academic medical centers and to improve the quality of Immunology testing
  • Facilitate and consult on the involvement of Immunology testing in new clinical research proposals and advise senior management regarding potential collaboration with industry
  • Serve as a trusted medical advisor to internal teams, healthcare providers, and external partners
  • Support scientific communication, education, and medical marketing initiatives
  • Participate in change management and support technology roll outs
  • Attend national and local meetings to maintain and build knowledge in Immunology, represent Quest Diagnostics and drive the vision for the department
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment a plus

Qualifications

  • MD with board certification in Clinical Pathology or a specialty related to Immunology, Rheumatology, or Allergy testing
  • California Medical License or eligibility
  • Two-five years relevant experience in Clinical Immunology
  • NY State CoQ holder in Immunology and related areas preferred or MD or ability to obtain CoQs
  • Knowledge of clinical lab operations, immunology testing, and regulatory pathways
  • Strong communicator who can bridge clinical expertise with business needs
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Passion for improving patient care through science and innovation

Responsibilities

  • All work takes place within the jail inmate housing units and clinic (outpatient)
  • Combination of initial visits for assessment and ongoing renewals

Overview

As the Center Medical / Laboratory Director, you will provide medical guidance and support to the Physician Substitutes, while offering training as needed. This role is central to ensuring the Donor Center meets all regulatory requirements and operates smoothly. You’ll be the go‑to expert for both the Donor Center and the Company.

Key Responsibilities

Medical and Laboratory Leadership
  • Lead and manage the medical and laboratory operations, ensuring they are conducted with the highest standards of care and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary contact for health departments and regulatory agencies, ensuring all procedures meet CLIA regulations.
  • Monitor donor suitability, safety, and product quality, providing valuable insights to enhance operations.
Staff Training and Development
  • Empower and equip the medical staff with the necessary training and certifications, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
  • Provide compassionate guidance during challenging donor reactions and support in confidential counseling for those with concerning test results.
Commitment to Quality
  • Establish and maintain a quality-focused approach to laboratory testing, ensuring accuracy and reliability in every aspect.
  • Regularly review quality assurance reports and test results, ensuring that all procedures are followed meticulously.
  • Create a safe and supportive laboratory environment, ensuring it meets all physical and environmental standards.
Regulatory and Safety Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including 21 CFR 630.3(i) and 21 CFR 630.5, safeguarding both donors and staff.
  • Manage donor counseling, testing, and follow-up care with a focus on safety and well‑being.
Collaborative Communication
  • Offer constructive feedback to Center Operations Management and the Quality Assurance team, working together to continually improve processes.
  • Participate in senior leadership meetings, contributing your expertise to help guide the Center’s success.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine, Osteopathy, or Podiatric Medicine with the appropriate state licenses.
  • Certification in anatomic or clinical pathology is ideal, though equivalent qualifications will be considered.
  • A minimum of one year directing or supervising laboratory testing, with a focus on quality and safety, or 20 continuing medical education credits or equivalent laboratory training.
  • A valid state‑issued medical license in good standing is required.
  • Board certifications as applicable to the role.

Work Environment

  • You will occasionally be involved in more hands‑on activities, including lifting or moving.
  • This role involves frequent use of hands, fingers, and wrists, with some exposure to hazardous chemicals and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided and required for specific tasks or areas.

The Department of Family Medicine of the University of Connecticut is seeking a Vice Chair of Clinical Operations, Quality and Innovation . Family Medicine is a well-established department, with a fully accredited residency program, a sports medicine fellowship, embedded behavioral health, and several practices across two different healthcare organizations (UConn Health and Trinity Health of New England). The state of Connecticut is moving forward with plans to double the percent of healthcare spent on primary care over the next several years with a focus on payment for advanced primary care teams and use of information technology to support care. This is an opportunity to take a leadership role at the department, institutional, and state levels with CMS’ States Advancing AHEAD Model – a collaborative state effort to improve primary care service delivery.

The Vice Chair will work with the Chair to grow the clinical services provided and footprint of the department in innovative ways that improve quality and promote health equity, while also facilitating excellence in education and research. The selected individual will help develop and execute departmental strategies that expand the number of faculty, locations of care delivery and the range of clinical services delivered in an innovative fashion. He or she will be responsible for oversight of quality improvement initiatives within the department and will work with leadership at both the University and affiliated healthcare organizations.

The ideal candidate will have some experience with budget preparation, a keen interest in operational improvement, experience managing people, and a growth mindset. Other characteristics include trust, integrity, strong work ethic, ability to collaborate, positive attitude, and leading by example.

Responsibilities:

  • The position involves clinical care in a suburban clinical site and serving in a medical director role at that location as well as precepting in an urban family medicine residency program.
  • Assist in medical student teaching during clinical care.
  • The development and maintenance of efficient and effective clinical operations and collaborative work relationships within Family Medicine.
  • Assist in development, implementation and monitoring of a departmental growth strategy.
  • Development and expansion of innovative clinical programs, including innovative use of technology.
  • Design and implementation of clinical workflow improvements.
  • Be responsible for reporting on provider performance and quality.
  • Assist in recruitment of faculty and staff.
  • Mentor junior faculty, ancillary providers, residents, staff, and students.

Required Training and Experience:

  • Board Certification in Family Medicine with a current CT state license or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience leading progressive improvements within a clinical environment.
  • Experience leading Quality Improvement initiatives with demonstrated experience in use of successful techniques such as Lean/Six Sigma, Root Cause analysis, FMEA, PDSA cycles, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex work environment.

Preferred Training and Experience:

  • Additional training such as an MBA, MHA, MPH or Clinical Informatics training with a focus on clinical environment growth and innovation.
  • Experience with Value Based Care design, implementation, and monitoring outcomes.
  • Experience with using data from an EHR for data analysis, report generation, dashboard development, and workflow enhancement.
  • Experience working within an academic clinical, teaching, and research environment.
  • Evidence of scholarly work as demonstrated by regional or national presentations and publications regarding Quality Improvement, Healthcare System Redesign, or similar topics.
  • Experience consistent with appointment at senior rank (Associate professor) is preferred.
  • Skill with financial and strategic planning at a division or departmental level.
