Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) at HCA Healthcare, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality care that puts patients first. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing focused nursing care for patients with complex needs by administering medications, managing lines or drains, and assisting with interventions like cardiac monitoring or respiratory support 
  • Closely observing patients for subtle changes in status — including shifts in heart rhythm, oxygen levels, or neurological signs — and escalating concerns quickly to support early intervention 
  • Documenting timely, accurate updates that help the care team coordinate effectively in a high-acuity environment 
  • Helping patients and families understand complex conditions and recovery steps with clarity and comfort
  • Working closely with RNs, providers, and specialists to stabilize patients and guide them through the transition from intensive care toward recovery 

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (LPN/LVN) Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse or Graduate Vocational License

    Job Summary and Qualifications

    We are seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions and promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. The Surgical Technician will work in collaboration under the direction of the RN and Surgeon during surgical procedures.

    What will you do in this role?

    • Provide care to patients under the direction of the RN in the Surgical Services suite.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique, instruments, and supplies needed for surgical cases.
    • Communicates, interacts, and participates in teamwork on the unit to provide patient care.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process. Communicates and participates in patient care activities in direct conjunction with the RN.
    • Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
    • May have access to POS room or designated areas to transport, assemble, or stock inventory of non-scheduled drugs and biologicals to include but not limited to fluids, sterile water, normal saline, and irrigations.
    • Promotes and displays a positive customer-oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
    • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
    • Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patients care which results in patient harm.
    • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    What qualifications will you need?

    • Graduation from Surgical Technician program is preferred
    • High School Diploma or equivalent is required

    Job Summary and Qualifications

    As a Surgical Technologist you are responsible for assisting with the delivery of quality surgical care. You will be responsible for coordinating with the circulating perioperative nurse during surgical procedures. You are responsible for all major surgical specialty areas; including gathering and preparing sterile supplies, equipment, preparing/maintaining the sterile field. You will assist the surgeon by supplying sterile instruments/supplies to the sterile field in a safe and efficient manner. You will follow current AORN and regulatory standards and established policies and procedures of the System.

    What you will do In This Role: 

    • You will plan for and obtain the equipment and supplies needed for assigned procedures according to physicians' preference and specific patient needs. 
    • You will prepare equipment and supplies according to manufacturer's recommendations and specifications for uses during surgical procedures.
    • You will open sterile packs, instruments and supplies for each procedure according to established aseptic techniques and protocols. 
    • You will monitor sterile field during procedure and takes appropriate measures to insure integrity.
    • You must initiate corrective action for any break in technique. 
    • You will prepare medications and solutions for use during procedures under the direction of the Registered Nurse, according to physician’s orders.
    • You will maintain accountability for instruments, sponges and sharps, according to hospital policy throughout the surgical procedure to ensure that no foreign objects are retained in the surgical wound. 
    • You will take appropriate action if item count is not correct and will inform the appropriate staff.
    • You will consistently follow safety procedures and protocols for Timeout when handling sharp instruments, powered equipment, hazardous chemicals and lasers.

    What Qualifications You Will Need:

    You must have a High school graduate or equivalent

    You must have a graduated of a surgical technologist program OR hires prior to 9/1/2009 may substitute with 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist

    If you are NON-CERTIFIED: No license, certificate or registration required for the Sterile Processing Department

    • All other departments no license, certificate or registration required if they meet the below provision: Per Texas HB 643, surgical technologists entering practice after 09/01/2009 must have and maintain a surgical technologist certification.     Job Summary and Qualifications


    As a Certified Surgical Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to the company’s mission and vision by assisting with the provision of safe and effective nursing care in accordance with a defined scope of practice within the operating room.     • Prepare procedure room for use the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, "pulling cases" accurately, and reporting to supervisor items that are needed and not available

    You Should Have:

    • Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Assisting or completion of an approved programBack Office Training Program(BOTP) isrequired 
    • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is helpful 
    • The ability to obtain a Federal Breath Alcohol Screening Certificate and Federal Drug Screening Certification within 30 days of start preferred

    Job Summary and Qualifications

    General Statement of Duties: The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting with the delivery of quality surgical care through planning and anticipating the surgeon/procedure needs and coordinating with the circulating perioperative nurse during surgical procedures. Demonstrates competency in surgical technology to include all major surgical specialty areas; includes gathering and preparing sterile supplies, equipment, preparing/maintaining the sterile field and assisting the surgeon by supplying sterile instruments/supplies to the sterile field in a safe and efficient manner. Performs routine scrub role as well specifically delegated department duties. Consistently follows current AORN and regulatory standards and established policies and procedures of the System. 

    Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics: 

    1. Education: 

    • High School graduate or GED equivalent required. 
    • Graduate of a surgical technologist program OR hires prior to 9/1/2009 may substitute with 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist. 

    2. Experience: None required (unless used in lieu of education as stated above). 

    3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable). 

    Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: 

    A. NON-CERTIFIED: No license, certificate or registrations required for the Sterile Processing Department All other departments no license, certificate or registration required if they meet the below provision: Per Texas HB 643, surgical technologists entering practice after 09/01/2009 must have and maintain a surgical technologist certification. Individuals that performed in a surgical technologist position prior to 09/01/2009 are not required to obtain a surgical technologist certification. 

    B. CERTIFIED: Must have and maintain ONE of the following: 

    • CST – Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (formally the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist) OR
    • TS-C- Tech in Surgery, Certified through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

    Essential Job Functions: 

    1. Plans for and obtains the equipment and supplies needed for assigned procedures according to physicians' preference and specific patient needs. 

    2. Prepares equipment and supplies according to manufacturer's recommendations and specifications for uses during surgical procedures. Opens sterile packs, instruments and supplies for each procedure according to established aseptic techniques and protocols. 

    3. Monitors sterile field during procedure and takes appropriate measures to insure integrity of sterile field and maintenance of sterile techniques. Initiates corrective action for any break in technique. 

    4. Prepares medications and solutions for use during procedures under the direction of the Registered Nurse, according to physician’s orders. 

    5. Maintains accountability for instruments, sponges and sharps, according to hospital policy throughout the surgical procedure to ensure that no foreign objects are retained in the surgical wound. Takes appropriate action if item count is not correct and informs the appropriate staff. 

    6. Consistently follows safety procedures and protocols for Timeout and when handling sharp instruments, powered equipment, hazardous chemicals and lasers. 7. Performs high-level disinfection using established policies and procedures as required.

     Additional Job Functions: 

    1. May handle, pick up, deliver and/or stock non-controlled medications as directed by a licensed team member. 

    2. Maintains an efficient controlled O.R. environment by processing and re-stocking supplies and equipment. 

    3. Ensures the integrity and safety of the specimen prior to pathology procedures. Collects and labels specimens for diagnostic lab per hospital policy and procedure. 

    4. Assists with providing care for the patient both pre-, intra, and post specialized procedure. Will aid with transporting and positioning patient on the operating bed, specific to operative procedure, type of anesthetics to be used, and use of protective devices as indicated. 

    5. Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals. 

    6. Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools and materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any function. 

    7. Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself. 

    8. Completes other duties as assigned.

    Job Summary and Qualifications

    Responsible for providing high quality pre-hospital advanced life support including assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by HCA Houston Healthcare AirLife Medical Director(s). The Flight Paramedic be responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of HCA Houston Healthcare AirLife assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. 

    What You Will Do In This Role: 

    · Provides pre-hospital advanced life support care from the initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility; maintains thorough patient care documentation. 

    · Practices within his/her scope of practice as defined by the states regulating each base and HCA Houston Healthcare. 

    · Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences. 

    · Communicates educational needs to the Chief Flight Nurse. 

    · Maintains documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, aviation and safety training, OSHA and HIPAA training, clinical rotations, and advanced procedures. 

    · Attends continuing educational programs pertinent to his/her practice. 

    · Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by HCA Houston Healthcare AirLife. 

    · Responsible for reporting medical equipment failures and taking initial steps to insure repair of equipment as directed. 

    · Maintains adequate supplies onboard aircraft to deliver safe patient care. Keeps aircraft clean and orderly to insure rapid response to all transport requests. 

    · Participates in patient and referring institution follow-up and planned outreach marketing and education activities. 

    What Qualifications You Will Need:

    · High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least three years’ related experience and/or training. 

    · Bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred. 

    · Minimum three (3) years’ recent experience in a busy 911 system. 

    · Previous critical care transport and flight experience preferred. 

    · Registered EMT-P licensed in state(s) served. National Certification may be required to meet state licensure requirements. 

    · Specialty certification: (FP-C or CCP-C) required within two (2) years of hire. 

    · Current certifications in Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR; ACLS; PALS or equivalent and advanced provider ITLS or PHTLS.

      Job Summary and Qualifications

      "The Paramedic responds to medical emergencies and provides advanced critical care during the transport to the hospital. As the first healthcare provider at the scene, the Paramedic partners with firefighters and police in evaluating the situation. The Paramedic offers basic and advanced life saving support, administers treatments, and directs EMTs in delivering patient care consistent with training and level of certification.

      What you will do in this role:

      • Operate emergency medical vehicle and responds to calls for aid in emergent situations.

      • Evaluate patient condition to establish the right course of treatment.

      • Provide a variety of emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated persons.

      • Perform invasive procedures under adverse conditions.

      • Manage non-medical situations such as crowd control and protecting the valuables of a patient if necessary.

      • Lift and transport patients, ensuring patients remain stable during transport.

      • Communicate patient data and condition to professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility.
