About the Opportunity

The Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for providing high-quality anesthesia care to patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures. The CRNA will collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective anesthesia administration. This role involves preoperative assessment, intraoperative anesthesia management, and postoperative care, with a commitment to patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes.

Position Details

Position will be expected to work a variable schedule worked and needed coverage at Vail Health facilities, including, but not limited to, Vail Health Hospital, Vail Valley Surgery Center locations, and Dillon Surgery Center. Additional compensation will be paid for overtime according to company policy and applicable laws.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute an effective anesthetic plan.
  • Manage the patient's airway and respiratory status.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after a medical procedure.
  • Prepare operating rooms, set up equipment, layout supplies, and prepare necessary gases.
  • Perform regular patient visits and legibly record findings in the patient records.
  • Request and assess diagnostic tests.
  • Remain up-to-date with the latest advances in the anesthesia field, including the introduction of new medical equipment and techniques.
  • Model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What You Will Need

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working as a CRNA required.
  • Must be skilled in airway management techniques and chronic pain treatment.
  • Possess superb communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of current anesthesia practices and techniques.

License(s)

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required.

Certification(s)

  • Current CRNA certification in the state of Colorado required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Computer / Typing

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job‑specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs like Excel, Word, Teams, Power Point is required.

Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Overview

  • Document patient care thoroughly; follow hospital policies, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • MD or DO degree, or equivalent.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease.
  • Valid Massachusetts medical license (or ability to obtain).
  • Demonstrated experience diagnosing and managing complex infectious disease cases in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Strong clinical decision making, communication, and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred

  • Experience in antimicrobial stewardship programs.
  • Experience managing HIV/AIDS patients and/or STDs.
  • Experience with TB management and travel/tropical medicine.
  • Experience in an academic or teaching environment.

Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and medications using basic or advanced cardiac life support protocols and to provide medical consultation if required.
  • Conducts a thorough review of patient’s charts to include history and physical, diagnostic testing, and a current physical assessment.
  • Implementation of appropriate anesthetic plan based on patient assessment.
  • Selects, applies, and or inserts appropriate noninvasive and invasive modalities for continuous evaluation of the patient’s physical status.
  • Demonstrates compliance with departmental policies and procedures and mandatory education requirements including but not limited to safety, infection control, attendance and dress code.
  • Willingness to work on behalf of the department when requested even if this includes off hours for emergency purposes.
  • Develop an area of research interest.

  • Demonstrates a positive approach to working in a team environment by focusing on larger, organizational goals and cooperating amenably with all members of the health care team.

Pediatrix Medical Group, in partnership with Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital (RWCH), is seeking dedicated and compassionate Neonatologists to join our growing team in Alexandria, Louisiana on a per diem basis. This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to make a meaningful impact while enjoying a true work‑life balance with full time providers on a 7‑on/7‑off schedule and 24/7 in‑house Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) coverage.

  • Collaborative 2 Neonatologist / 4 NNP model
  • NNPs in-house 24 hours a day
