GOALS:

GOALS:

  • Lead and direct the execution of multiple clinical program(s) within a Therapeutic Area Unit (TAU).
  • Responsible for line management and provides expert counsel for issue resolution, including programs assigned to other staff, when required.
  • Provide Clinical Operations leadership under the direction of the Senior Director, Clinical Operations:
  • Accountable for the overall execution of the assigned clinical program(s) with focus on quality, budget and timelines.
  • Accountable for the oversight of Strategic Partners and other vendors to meet Takeda's obligations described in ICH-GCP and Takeda's business objectives.
  • The assigned clinical program(s) will be large, complex, high risk and/or of business importance to Takeda or potentially a suite of programs, requiring multi-functional leadership experience and skills to achieve program goals.  If a single program is assigned, the program will typically be significant in scope (e.g., multiple independent indications with individual Clinical Sub Teams (CSTs)). 

A CCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Oversee COPLs assigned to represent Clinical Operations as members of the Global Program Team (GPT) and/or CST, working closely with GPT Leadership to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Represent Clinical Operations for assigned program(s) in issue escalation/awareness with senior management, e.g. functional or regional executive staff, PRC, alliance governance committees.
  • Contribute to the Clinical Development Plan(s) and associated operational strategy, in support of the Asset Strategy.  
  • Accountable for program budget planning and external spend related to program execution and works closely with Global Program Management, and Finance to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Ensures communication of program status, cost and issues to inform timely decision-making by senior management.
  • Oversight of Strategic Partners/CRO/vendor selection, budget and contract negotiation, and proper supervision of performance for all activities assigned to a Strategic Partner/CRO/vendor for assigned program(s), including escalation of issues to and participation in governance committees; accountable for operational risk management strategy in collaboration with Strategic Partners.
  • Accountable for inspection readiness and provides appropriate guidance to COPLs/COMs in support of inspection activities
  • Collaborates with and is responsible to the Senior Director, Clinical Operations to ensure adequate clinical operations resources are assigned to program(s).
  • Demonstrate advanced Takeda Leadership Behaviors and act as a role model for Takeda´s values.
  • Recognized as a clinical operations expert by other functions and ability to represent and lead cross functional initiatives.
  • May participate in Business Development/in-licensing/alliances evaluations by providing operational due diligence.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree or international equivalent required, Life Sciences preferred.  Advanced degree is highly desirable.
  • 12 or more years' experience in pharmaceutical industry, including 9 or more years in clinical study management. 
  • Experience must include early phase experience or Phase 2 and 3 studies and global/international programs. 
  • Oncology experience is required.
  • Experience in more than one therapeutic area and in line management is advantageous.  Demonstrated excellence in leadership and project/program management, including innovative operations approaches to achieving program goals.
  • Expertise in global regulatory and compliance requirements for clinical research, including but not limited to US CFR, EU CTD, and ICH GCP.  Awareness of local country requirements is also required.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$174, $274,230.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. The Media Engineer II position is the perfect role for an engineer who has some hands-on sustainment and design/build experience with the creation, production, and distribution of linear or digital video/audio content. Media Engineer II's are primarily focused on the sustainability of our existing technology. They are the start of a tiered sustainment model where incidents are escalated from a shared operations team (tier 1) to the Media Engineer II's (tier 2) and beyond. Additionally, while Media Engineer II's are learning the nuances of Disney's technology and learning to apply their own education and engineering experience, they will be asked to work on some system integration projects; documentation and preventative engineering.

Media Engineer II's use their experience to solve increasingly complicated issues without much support for more senior engineers and can easily perform integration tasks with little direction.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Respond to and resolve issues that affect production, broadcast, and content distribution across multiple DEE networks including system outages, malfunctions, and related technical problems, and conduct diagnostic testing, repair, and replacement activities necessary to solve routine, specialized, and complex problems. Utilize system health and performance monitoring software and platforms; troubleshoot and participate in repairing system problems and failures, participates in maintenance of systems, installs software patches, updates etc., to resolve and avoid service problems, and troubleshoot system problems as they relate to these services.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot streaming audio/video signals in traditional SDI and IP 2110 essence flow routing environments.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot cloud platforms as necessary

  • Manage third-party service providers by enforcing the agreed upon scope of services within the various signed service agreements (i.e., full time, freelance, union agencies, maintenance providers, contractors, service providers, etc.)

  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate technical staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.

  • Specify and procure equipment, supplies and materials for Media technology systems within budget guidelines; receive and maintain equipment and supplies.

  • Develop long range plans for future media technology needs, including capital improvements, to enhance production and distribution capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of previous and relevant experience in ensuring efficient sustainment, uptime, and overall stability of the technical environments of live media production and distribution environments.

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent major, and/or equivalent work experience.

  • Proficient with technologies like microservices, DevOps tools, design principles, practices, standards and guidelines

  • Scripting proficiency will be an advantage (Python, NodeJS, Bash, PowerShell)

  • Proficient in SMPTE standards for broadcast television and video production/streaming environments. With a current certification such as not limited to ST 292M, ST 424M, ST 2110, ST 2059, IEE1588, ST 2022-7, SCTE-104, etc.

  • Knowledge and experience with on-prem and cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure platforms and current technological offerings. At least one foundational cloud certification required, including but not limited to Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Cloud+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.

  • Knowledge and experience with compression techniques such as MPEG2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible and play lead role for technical implementation of traditional broadcast production systems and cloud -based infrastructure that support content acquisition, production, encoding, decoding, and content distribution across multiple DE&E Technology networks (linear, digital, and streaming platforms).
  • Take lead role on projects to modernize our legacy media production infrastructure systems to make way for advancements such as SMPTE ST 2110, 4K, UHD HDR, JPEGxs, NDI, ProRes Raw, H.265, AV1, including multi resolution support across broadcast facilities (720p/1080/4K/UHD/HDR), metadata conversion, audio mapping, system outages, microservices architecture tunning and related technical problems.
  • Take lead role and coordinate the construction of facilities, upgrades and the installation of equipment including core routing, intercom, playout, distribution systems, non-linear edit systems, graphics, video servers, storage solutions, file acquisition, file transcode, file transfer, media asset management and automation systems. Collaborate closely with installation engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, technical operations staff, and others involved in the projects.
  • Collaborate closely with DE&ET and operations' management to assess facility needs. Develops project plans, schedules, and capital planning, forecasting and estimations. Collaborates closely with equipment manufacturers and vendors to understand the range of equipment that might be relevant to support broadcasting facilities and operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of broadcast engineering experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or comparable field of study and/or equivalent work experience
  • Strong understanding of baseband/IP video, audio and digital compression, transport systems, audio/video encoding/transcoding techniques and formats.

Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney's linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney's media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney's EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams.

Disney Media Engineers often find themselves at the crossroads between hardware and software-based technology and must possess a comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of the technology that powers the generation, monetization, and distribution of all forms of consumer- facing linear and digital video/audio content. Responsibility includes numerous systems such as Playout Technology, Studios, Production Control Rooms, Remote Production, Post-Production, Contribution/Distribution Systems, Networking, Cloud Compute, Production Software and Virtual Environment and more.

The Media Systems Engineer II position is another step toward technical proficiency. The Media Systems Engineer II primarily focuses on architecting, designing, and constructing the varied technical platforms that power our linear and digital platforms. The Media Systems Engineer II position will work closely under the direction of more senior engineers and 3rd party partners to develop technology that efficiently and effectively delivers on the requirements set forth by technical, business or operations leaders.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Architect, design, source, and construct media technology environments that allow DEEP&T Technology the ability to acquire, produce, store, stream, distribute our content.
  • Resolve issues that affect production, broadcast, and content distribution across multiple DEEP&T networks including system outages, malfunctions, and related technical problems, and conduct diagnostic testing, repair, and replacement activities necessary to solve routine, specialized, and complex problems.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot streaming audio/video signals in traditional SDI and IP 2110 essence flow routing environments.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot cloud platforms as necessary.
  • Manage third-party service providers by enforcing the agreed upon scope of services within the various signed service agreements (i.e., full time, freelance, union agencies, maintenance providers, contractors, service providers, etc.).
  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate technical staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
  • Specify and procure equipment, supplies and materials for Media technology systems within budget guidelines; receive and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Develop long range plans for future media technology needs, including capital improvements, to enhance production and distribution capabilities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding technology facilities with a focus on maximizing the integration of all systems to meet business, marketing, and entertainment goals.
  • Provide operational support of all activities related to operating, maintaining, and programming the audio and video production/distribution systems across the enterprise and other connected properties.
  • Utilize system software health and performance monitoring platforms; troubleshoot and participate in repairing system problems and failures, participates in maintenance of systems, installs software patches, updates etc., to resolve and avoid service problems, and troubleshoots system problems as they relate to these services
  • Performs upgrades to system hardware and software workflows under the supervision of a more experienced engineer or supervisor.
  • Participates in complex engineering projects at the direction of more experienced engineers.
  • Reviews, maintains, and contributes to system/workflow documentation.
  • Participates in training and development objectives. Conducts peer training and development sessions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of demonstrated and relevant experience in leading others ensuring efficient design/build, uptime, and overall stability of the technical environments of live media production and distribution.
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent major, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Scripting proficiency will be an advantage (Python, NodeJS, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Knowledge and experience with integrating, implementing, or refreshing broadcast control room equipment, including familiarity with modern broadcast cabling infrastructure used in broadcast environments.
  • Proficient in SMPTE standards for broadcast television and video production/streaming environments with a current certification such as not limited to ST 292M, ST 424M, ST 2110, ST 2059, IEE1588, ST 2022-7, SCTE-104, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with on-prem and cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure platforms and current technological offerings. At least one foundational cloud certification required, including but not limited to Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Cloud+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
  • Knowledge and experience with compression techniques such as MPEG2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS.
  • Knowledge and experience with Evertz software control systems such as frame control via VistaLink or Magnum, EQX/EXE routers, and their monitoring software VLPRO, SDVN, VIP, VUE, MVP.
  • Knowledge and experience with major media systems and the vendors that supply them in areas such as asset management systems, file-based workflows, media acquisition, transcoding/encoding, graphics, and NAS/SAN technologies
  • Knowledge and experience with Nielsen (NACAT), VANC equipment, Linear Acoustics, and other related systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with coordinated receiver decoders IRDs, core devices, edge devices, timing of video and audio systems, audio and video media file formats are a plus.
  • Ability to create, read and interpret AutoCAD and other technical drawing/documentation tools. Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell, C or C++.
  • Advanced track record for designing and building IP-based broadcast equipment including one or more of the following:
    •  Routers, switchers, audio boards, signal processers, encoder/decoder, video scalers, playback systems, etc.
    • Studio Technology, video walls, cameras, VR set technology, image processing systems, touch screens, lighting, etc.
    • File-based workflows like enterprise Media Asset Management systems (Cloud-based Cloud Compute or Local Network-based) including storage, compute, encode and distribution.
    • Production control systems such as Imagine Communications or Grass Valley automation systems, Riedel trunking, Lawo, Calrec, Evertz, Ross and others.
    • Transmission systems such as RF (Radio Frequency), Satellite Distribution, Fiber Distribution, etc.
    • AWS Infrastructures and other cloud-based technologies including S3/Glacier storage and cloud compute (EC2) services.
  • Physical requirements and work environment: Ability to climb ladders, work on raised structures and building roofs, operate areal lift platforms and have valid driver's license.

#DISNEYTECH

The hiring range for this position in California is $95,300 to $127,800 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
