Job Summary and Qualifications

The Radiologic Technologist will coordinate services and activities specific to the Imaging area. Monitors all technical clerical functions, which include efficient patient throughput and effective utilization of equipment and human resources, based upon patient load. Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age-specific needs. Exercises professional judgment in performances of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.

Participates in providing patient specific care standards as directed, and follows service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

Your responsibilities will include:  

• Perform all diagnostic radiographic procedures including ER, surgical, fluoroscopic and portable radiographs
• Select and operate radiography equipment, imaging and/or associated accessories to successfully perform procedures.
• Select appropriate protocols to obtain desired results.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
• Document, on the images or in writing, information seen during exam.
• Relay to physicians any relevant patient information.
• Follow all hospital guidelines regarding radiation protection and applies principles of radiation safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others.
• Provide optimum patient care during exams.
• Operate all computer systems (Meditech, RAD module, OE, PCI, PACS, etc.) that relate to the individual’s job assignment and department operations.
• Participate in call rotation as needed
• Perform other department related duties as needed and assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

Education

• Associate Degree
• Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.

License and Certifications

• Licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist with the Texas Medical Board (TMB)

Role Summary:The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist is required to perform invasive and non- invasive procedures on a variety of patients per the needs of the modality/department. The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist is required to utilize sterile techniques, if necessary, operate complex imaging equipment and assist physicians as necessary. Continuing education, learned skills and experience will be utilized. This position will function without constant supervision to produce superior quality imaging studies. The Multi-Modality Technologist must routinely work within a minimum of two qualifying modalities as directed by department managers/supervisors to meet the specific needs of the department. Performs all duties relating to the specific primary and post primary imaging modalities in which they are working. This includes Diagnostic, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and Ultrasound. Mammography & Bone Densitometry. 

What qualifications you will need:

• Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) program.
• Required License: ARRT registered and hold post primary certification in a minimum of 1 additional qualifying discipline in which exams will be performed in the role of Multi-Modality Technologist OR must obtain registry and have current certification on credentialing website for specified imaging modality within specific timeframe as follows; a. CT 6-9 months b. Mammography 12 months c. MRI 12-18 months Completes requirements for CEU for re-certification. BLS certified.
• Required Experience: Previous experience in a multi-disciplined Radiology Department.
• Preferred Experience: Two years previous experience in an advanced discipline.

Staff will operate computerized axial tomography CT equipment for performance of patient exams. Staff will coordinate scheduling of CT Scans for maximum equipment utilization. Job Summary and Qualifications

The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging exams, providing the highest level of customer service and image quality. 

What You'll Do in This Role 

• You'll demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for the patient populations served in your department. 
• You'll demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs. 
• You'll assess patients'/families' ability to learn and incorporate teaching. 
• You'll deliver compassionate, holistic care, while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients. 
• You'll demonstrate knowledge of equipment and procedures for the radiological department. 

What Qualifications You'll Need 

• Must be a graduate of a 24-month Radiologic Technology Program. 
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current. 
• ARRT registered. 
• One year experience in acute care strongly preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.

What you will do in this Role:

 1. The technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and adult patients. 

2. Demonstrates competency in areas of general diagnostic radiography, use of digital equipment, knowledge of the PACS system, positioning, procedure preparation and technical factors.

 3. Responsible for the proper use of RIS, Meditech (scheduling exams, patient tracking, image tracking, proper completion of exams, capture charges)

 4. Understands and follows infection control/universal precautions in the performance of all job tasks.

 5. Accommodates inpatients or requests for urgent exams as the need arises. 

6. Observant for image artifacts; clean image detectors as necessary. 

7. Possess the ability to assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose an appropriate course of action. 

8. Obtains patient history as needed; assists radiologist during procedures, helping to put the patient at ease. 

9. Advises supervisor of any equipment issues requiring service. 

10. Demonstrates ability to shut down radiologic equipment and/or reboot computers. 

Additional Job Roles: 

1. May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. 

2. May be called upon to physically witness waste and/or inventory controlled substances with another authorized individual.

 3. Responsible for maintaining work area ( this includes cleaning exam rooms as well as mobile equipment and stocking linen). 

4. Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals. 

5. Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:

 1. Education: Must have one of the following 

* Certificate of Training in Radiologic Technology Program

 *Associates of Science or above in Radiologic Technology . 

1. Experience: None required 

*Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable). 

1. Preferred- Current or previous experience in the hospital setting to include PACS system and digital radiology. 

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required: Required: 

1. Must have and Maintain Medical Radiologic Technologist Certification from Texas Medical Board. 

2. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification either at date of hire or within 6 months of hire date.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Associate Degree
• Certificate
• (RT) Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer
• (ARRT-R) Radiography
