Job Summary and Qualifications
The Lead Central Sterile Technician for the Surgical Ventures Group contributes to high quality, patient-centered care by maintaining a sanitary environment for the provision of patient care. As a valuable member of the care team, the Lead Central Sterile Tech cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instruments and supplies in accordance with established methods and facility procedures. The Lead Central Sterile Tech also participates in surgical room turnover between cases, ensuring a sanitary environment. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or other clinical manager, the Lead Central Sterile Tech may assist surgeons, nurses, or techs around the operative field, collect and record pertinent clinical data, or otherwise assist in direct patient care as instructed. The Lead Central Sterile Tech provides positive, goal-oriented technical leadership, thus promoting an atmosphere of support and quality.
What you will do in this role:
- Prioritizes and Organizes instrumentation, equipment, and supplies based on facility schedule and physician preference.
- Reviews schedule daily for case instrumentation needs; remains abreast of changes made in schedule.
- Anticipates special needs and selects required packs, instruments, supplies, sutures and equipment for specific cases.
- Receives all soiled instrumentation per policy and AAMI/OSHA requirements. Implements the appropriate decontamination process per manufacturer instructions. Reprocesses instrumentation for sterilization.
- Performs appropriate sterilization method required for different types of instruments, in accordance to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Utilizes “short cycle” procedures when necessary and appropriate.
- Monitors and records all test loads and sterilization cycles; reports any deviation from normal functioning to OR Coordinator or Nurse Manager.
- Monitors all instrumentation for proper sterilization prior to releasing for use. Places sterilized instruments on appropriate shelving and rotates accordingly.
- Performs testing for efficacy of disinfecting solution with each cycle, performs biological tests and maintains daily log, as per facility policies.
- Receives and disposes of of biohazardous materials/wastes according to policy and regulation.
- Recognizes emergency situations and responds effectively in a calm and controlled manner.
- Maintains the Decontamination and Clean room with supplies and equipment needed.
- Maintains a clean and orderly central processing area (e.g. shelves, counters, equipment).
- Tests operational efficiency of Instrumentation prior to reprocessing and reports problems to Nurse Manager.
- Implements manual cleaning cycle for autoclaves and other sterilizing/disinfecting machines.
- Maintains periodic maintenance records for equipment. Maintains accurate log for equipment out for repair.
What is required for this role:
- Graduate of Sterile Processing program is preferred
- Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program (required in some states) is preferred
- 1+ years applicable clinical experience is required
- Leadership experience-preferred
- Ambulatory surgery experience-preferred

Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Lead Certified Instrument/Sterile Processing Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will contribute to the company’s mission and vision by assisting with the care of patients by providing properly cleaned, sterilized, highly disinfected instruments and supplies. The Lead Sterile Processing Tech provides positive, goal-oriented technical leadership, thus promoting an atmosphere of support and quality.
What you will do in this role:
- You will demonstrate knowledge related to maintenance, cleanliness, and sterilization of instruments and equipment
- You will maintain a sanitary environment for the provision of patient care
- You will demonstrate awareness of appropriate sterilization methods needed for different instruments in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
- You will demonstrate knowledge of high-level disinfection and sterilization of endoscopy equipment.
- You will maintain a daily log, testing for efficacy of disinfecting solution with each cycle and perform biological testing
- You will monitor and record all test loads and sterilization cycles while documenting any deviation from normal functioning to OR Coordinator and/or Nurse Manager
- You will maintain an accurate log for equipment out for repair
Qualifications for this role:
- 1+ year experience in surgical instrument sterilization processing, preferably in an acute care or ambulatory surgery center environment
- Valid BCLS Certification upon employment***online certification not acceptable
- Certification and knowledge of standards and recommended guidelines of Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and American Society of Healthcare Central Service Professionals (ASHCSP)
- Graduate of Sterile Processing program

Job Summary and Qualifications
General Statement of Duties:
The Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist- Certified plays multiple roles on the Cardiac Cath Lab team as the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist during Cardiac Catheterization procedures. In both roles he/she demonstrates technical proficiency in all Cardiac Cath Lab procedures and equipment; applies anatomical and physiological knowledge to proficiently assist the Cardiologist or Electrophysiologist with providing cardiac patient care. As the Invasive Specialist he/she maintains good communication with the Cath Lab team to ensure proper equipment set up, accurate monitoring, and quality data collection.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:
1. Education and Experience: All of the following: High School graduate or GED
2 .New hires as of 6/1/2013 have to have ONE of the following:
- A. One (1) year fulltime Invasive Cardiovascular Technology experience.
- B. An Associate Degree or equivalent college hours (62 semester hours) in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science or higher.
- C. Graduate of an accredited (by CHEA, USDOE, or CMA) program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology.
- D. Graduate of a NON-Programmatically accredited program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology which has a minimum of one (1) year of specialty training and includes a minimum of 800 clinical hours.
3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable). Includes specific competency in:
- Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization
- Peripheral Angiography
- PTCA, Stent implantation
- Aspiration/Extraction devices
- Distal Embolization Protection devices, PTA and Peripheral Stent implantation
- Vascular Closure devices
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
- Temporary Transvenous Pacing
- Implantable Defibrillators/Pacemakers all of which can occur on an Elective/Emergent basis preferred.
- Various interventional radiology procedures
4. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
5. Preferred: Two (2) year (fulltime or fulltime equivalent) in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology preferred.
6. Preferred: Baccalaureate in health, science, natural science or nursing, engineering or any primary science AND six (6) months of (fulltime or fulltime equivalent) in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology.
Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:
1. Required (must hold one of the following credentials):
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) OR
2. Must have ONE of the below listed certifications: Current certification eligible Cath Lab Technicians must successfully pass RCIS/RCES exam in 24 months from start date.

- B.) RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR
3. Certified Surgical Tech or Registered Respiratory Therapist OR
4. EMT-B (Basic) / EMT-P (Paramedic) OR Military EMT equivalent with 10+ years experience
Essential Job Functions:
1. Demonstrates technical proficiency for all cardiac catheterization procedures while functioning in a primary role as a Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist.
2. Consistently and correctly identifies cardiac structures, coronary vasculature, and the associated disease processes.
3. Practices radiation safety and observes all principles to ALARA. This includes a good knowledge of all regulations and requirements set forth by the Texas Bureau of Radiation Control and the Methodist Radiation Safety Committee and the proper use and storage of personal radiation badge.
4. Assists the physician in obtaining or entering data into the Physiologic Monitoring System(s) for accurate assessment of left and/or right-sided Hemodynamic pressure measurements. Assures accurate information is gathered or entered for the calculation of intra-cardiac shunts, valve areas, and pressure measurements throughout the catheter path.
5. Accurately reports Ejection Fraction by demonstrating proficiency in the assessment of Cardiac function, utilizing Left Ventricular Analysis program(s). Understands the disease processes that result in depressed Cardiac function such as: Coronary Artery Disease, Cardiomyopathy, Myocardial Infarction, Valvular disorders, etc.
6. Consistently assures that Angiographic and procedural data is properly archived for long-term storage. Verifies the presence of all components of procedure information in both hard copy and computerized formats.

1. May have access to contrast agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
2. Takes “Call” on a rotating basis.

Job Summary and Qualifications
What you will do in this Role:
1. Performs post-processing on CT/MRI data sets. These skills are to be performed in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains quality control measures of the 3D Lab, CT/MRI department insuring good documentation and follow-through on issues.
2. Demonstrates knowledge in all areas of CT, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 3D post-processing, positioning, procedure preparation and technical factors associated with the CT, MRI and post processing systems.
3. Communicates well with others, is able to prioritize tasks, and acts as a mentor to staff as needed while providing quality in-services and instructions.
4. Ensures proper working condition of all CT/MRI post-processing equipment. Coordinates with vendors for repairs, scheduled maintenance. Maintains inventory and equipment service records.
5. Assists in establishing QC/QA protocols as required by JCAHO, ACR, OSHA, TDH and other agencies when applicable.
6. Responsible for the proper use of the RIS (scheduling exams, patient tracking, film tracking, proper completion of exams and to assist the department manager in-patient charging accuracy.

Job Summary of the CT Technologist
The CT Technologist shall be responsible for performing CT and Radiologic procedures that are in accordance with standards and practice set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology and Hospital Policies and Procedures. Optimizes the use of radiation by utilizing the concepts of Image Gently, Image Wisely and American College of Radiology. The CT Technologist demonstrates knowledge of the human structure and functions, patient care/safety, positioning, principles of radiographic sciences, radiation protection, medication safety (contrast) and specialized techniques. Maintains professional judgment and conduct that is complimentary of the ARRT Code of Ethics and St. David’s Healthcare Values.
Responsibilities of the CT Technologist
- Consistently produce CT - Computed Tomography scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from Neonatal to Geriatric age groups.
- Follows established scanning and viewing protocols.
- Operate CT - Computed Tomography scanner and related equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Complete quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organizing and prioritizing work flow to meet STAT and urgent demands while continuing to meet OP customer standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute and challenging patients; possess skills to modify positioning and scanning factors when standard cannot be performed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of disease processes and produces studies that optimally identify related anatomy.
- Solicit patient cooperation by providing patient education about procedure and expected sensations before and throughout scan.
- Demonstrate competence in using the power injector; verbalize limits of use.
- Complete required documentation on forms, logs, work station, and charting system.
- Assist the Radiologist during invasive procedures, demonstrate knowledge of supplies required and ensure availability.
Qualifications of the CT Technologist
EDUCATION:
- Graduate of an America Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology
EXPERIENCE:
- One year of experience performing CT - Computed Tomography procedures is preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

Job Summary of the MRI Technologist
The MRI Technologist shall be responsible for performing MRI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures in accordance with standards and practice set forth by the Medical Director of Radiology and Department Policies and Procedures. Provides training for Level One MR Safety Trained Personnel. The MRI Technologist demonstrates a knowledge of the human structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of electromagnetic and computer sciences, magnetic protection and specialized techniques. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. MRI Technologist will also perform duties of Medical Radiographer when not performing MRI exams.
Responsibilities of the MRI Technologist
- Demonstrate excellence by consistently producing MRI images of diagnostic quality on patients ranging from Neonatal to Geriatric.
- Follow established scanning protocols and operate the MRI scanner and related equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Complete quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organizes and prioritizes workflow to meet STAT and urgent demands.
- Demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute & challenging patients; possess skill to modify positioning and scanning factors when standard cannot be performed.
- Possess knowledge of disease processes and image these findings adequately; communicate them to the Radiologist.
- Demonstrate accountability for clinical responsibilities and safety practices in the MR department.
Qualifications of the MRI Technologist
EDUCATION:
- Graduate of an American Medical Association-approved program in Radiologic Technology
- Completion of courses in MRI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging and cross-sectional anatomy
EXPERIENCE:
- One year of experience performing MRI – Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Certified in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – ARRT (R) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the Association of Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- MRI post-primary certifications required 1 year post MRI assignment

Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Certified Surgical Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to the company’s mission and vision by assisting with the provision of safe and effective nursing care in accordance with a defined scope of practice within the operating room. This may include: direct patient care and observation, scrubbing and assisting the surgeon at the operative field, surgical room turnover between cases, collection and recording of pertinent clinical data in the medical record and consistent collaboration with the Registered Nurse in clinical decision making.
What you will do in this role:
- Demonstrate necessary practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the role of the surgical technician in accordance with the Association of Surgical Technologists
- Assist in preparing the operative suite for surgery by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments
- Ensure that surgical asepsis is maintained in the handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, needles, and dressings
- Assist in the turnover of the operating room suites between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning of equipment and environmental surfaces
- Prepare procedure room for use the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, "pulling cases" accurately, and reporting to supervisor items that are needed and not available
Qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program as required per facility practice and state regulatory requirement; otherwise preferred
- Surgical Tech Certification
- One year experience in an operating room setting (preferably in an ambulatory surgery center)
- Valid BCLS Certification upon employment ***Online certification not acceptable
