WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

The Director of Nursing (DON) at our Health Campuses oversees our residents' health concerns and manages the Nursing Services Department according to federal, state, and local regulations. They ensure quality care under the guidance of the Executive Director/Administrator and the Medical Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Health Campus.
  • Leads the clinical team with a focus on clinical and customer service excellence.
  • Develops, implements and maintains an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing service department and executes appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.
  • Participates in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies and ensures facility compliance with laws and regulations governing the Health Campus.

Qualifications  

  • Associate degree, or advanced degree in Nursing
  • 1-3 Years of relevant experience preferred
  • Must have and maintain a current, valid state RN license and current, valid CPR certification required.

Summary:

A Registered Nurse (RN) in a long-term care (LTC) facility provides skilled nursing care to residents, ensuring their health, comfort, and well-being. They also play a key role in supervising nursing staff, educating residents and families, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.

Essential Work Functions:

  • Assess patient or resident health, monitor for changes, and take appropriate action to ensure their well-being
  • Develop, update, and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and the patient care team
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
  • Observe residents for any medication reactions or changes in condition and report concerns to the healthcare provider
  • Provide treatments including wound care, IV therapy, catheter management, and other skilled procedures within scope of practice
  • Supervise and support LPNs and CNAs, delegating appropriately and ensuring residents receive quality care
  • Educate residents and families on medications, treatments, and managing chronic conditions
  • Document care provided, resident progress, and any health changes in a timely manner
  • Respond quickly to emergencies, delivering critical care and coordinating with medical teams when needed

  • Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
  • Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Summary:

  • Lead a team of direct care providers to ensure appropriate execution of medications and treatments, documentation, family teaching, care planning and patient care conferencing in compliance with the Health Campus Policies and Procedures.
  • Utilize the nursing process in delivering patient care and ensure continuity of care from admission through discharge and return to family and community.  
  • Visit residents on assigned unit daily to observe and evaluate each resident’s physical and emotional status and notify the charge nurse, the physician, and/or the Director of Nursing when there is a change in a resident’s condition. 
  • Identify resident problems and emergency situations and initiate immediate lifesaving measures in the absence of a physician. 
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc. as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Must have and maintain a current, valid state RN license
  • Current, valid CPR certification required
