NAVAHCS serves the healthcare needs of more than 34,000 Veterans spanning across more than 65,000 square miles of Northern Arizona. NAVAHCS has maintained a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) since the rating system started including VA hospitals in the annual national review in 2023. Our medical center includes an 85-bed community living center, a 15-bed unit for acute care, and a 120-bed domiciliary that is part of our Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay: Competitive salary + annual performance bonus + regular salary increases.

Sign-On Incentive : For highly qualified candidates, we can offer a recruitment bonus of up to 25% of the salary.

Paid-Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 days paid absence for CME).

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401k with up to 5% in contributions by VA.

Our facility is a 240-bed tertiary referral center for cardiovascular disease within the VA system and offers a full spectrum of cardiovascular care including on-site Cardiothoracic (CT) surgery, complex interventional and structural procedures, Electrophysiology (EP) devices and ablations, and advanced imaging with 3D Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE), Positron Emission Tomography (PET) -based perfusion, Cardiac Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). You will contribute to the interpretation of Electrocardiogram (ECG), exercise and pharmacologic stress tests, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, and ambulatory cardiac monitors. As part of the Cardiology service, you will supervise and teach general cardiology fellows, advanced practice providers and medical residents. The current VA physician staff consists of 3 interventionalists, 3 electrophysiologists, 6 noninvasive and 1 heart failure specialist. There are currently 10 Advance Practice Professionals. VA Coronary Care Unit and general consult service assignments with night and weekend call are shared between all VA cardiology faculty. You are expected to manage patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Candidates are encouraged to participate in advanced cardiac imaging interpretations and engage in clinical trials and other research activities depending on interest. Involvement in the UF practice is negotiable. An interest in working with the VA heart failure disease management group is preferred.

In 2014, Hartford HealthCare and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) formed the MSK Cancer Alliance through which our cancer specialists collaborate with MSK for educational conferences and symposiums, tumor boards and research studies. HHC is also an active member of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology and NRG Oncology and has access to clinical trials offered by these groups

Physicians would be clinically based at one hospital but actively engaged system-wide in quality, research and program development through our well established disease management teams and medical, radiation and surgical councils that together ensure one system standard and the promise to deliver the highest quality patient care throughout Hartford HealthCare.
