We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Algo Trader Senior Developer to contribute to the strategic analytics backbone and low-latency execution platforms supporting our Equities Electronic Trading product. This is a senior level position responsible for the design, development, and optimization of critical application systems and programs, working in coordination with the Citi Equities Electronic Trading Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to drive technical implementation and innovation across our analytics and data subsystems, as well as the core trading engine, while providing technical leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical design discussions and conduct rigorous code reviews to ensure high quality, performance, and adherence to architectural standards for critical trading systems.
- Design, develop, and optimize high-performance, low-latency applications utilizing both KDB+/Q and Java for our Equities Electronic Trading platform.
- Implement and maintain business-critical high-frequency systems that process market data, generate analytics, and facilitate trading operations.
- Contribute to platforms enabling efficient data management, sophisticated analytics generation, and robust trading functionalities.
- Partner with product development, quantitative researchers, and other technology teams to deliver new trading capabilities and enhance existing systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in testing frameworks, development tools, and deployment processes for low-latency and high-throughput environments.
- Resolve complex technical challenges through in-depth analysis of business and system processes, adhering to industry best practices and architectural blueprints.
- Apply advanced knowledge of system architecture, data flow, and development standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
- Build common solutions for trading platform monitoring, trade reconciliation, and application recovery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other developers, fostering best practices in high-performance application development.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in software development with a strong focus on high-performance, low-latency systems.
- Proven expertise inKDB+ (Q language) development, including practical experience in scaling, load-balancing, resilience, and optimizing query performance for large datasets.
- Strong technical knowledge and expertise inJava (or C#) for building critical, low-latency execution platforms, including deep understanding of JVM internals, concurrency, and memory management.
- Experience designing and developing automated trading platforms in Equities or other similar financial domains.
- Solid understanding of financial market protocols like FIX, and practical experience handling order and market datasets.
- Demonstrable experience with testing frameworks, Agile methodologies, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) processes.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, set goals, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrable ability to present and grasp complex technical and business concepts.
- Preferred background in Markets Electronic Trading or Market Making domains.

Team/Role Overview
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in professional software development and design. The role requires a lead developer with strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders and partners throughout the full software development life cycle, from inception and design, to deployment, operational management and iterative refinement.
As a Backend Developer Lead within the Network Infrastructure Team, you will be instrumental in developing the platform architecture and delivering the tooling and services required to support the deployment of cloud network resources. The Network Infrastructure Team is based in multiple locations across the globe and comprises of Architects, Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers and Backend Developers.

Job Title: Sr. Solution Architect
Job Summary:
Heitmeyer Consulting is currently seeking Sr. Solution Architect for a direct hire or contract-to-hire opportunity with one of our financial services clients in Columbus, OH or Chicago, IL. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives on challenge, enjoys solving complex problems, and can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution. The successful candidate will play a critical role in defining the future state of our payment ecosystem, modernizing technology, and influencing both business and technical stakeholders.
This role requires someone who is framework agnostic when it comes to payment rails, comfortable engaging with vendors, and capable of designing end-to-end solutions across domestic and international payment networks, including ACH, wires, RTP, card networks, and cross-border systems. The candidate should be able to work both strategically and tactically, rolling up their sleeves to dive into the code when necessary while maintaining a clear vision for the architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business partners to understand current state and define a clear roadmap for modernization over the next 9–18 months.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient payment systems using Java and cloud-native technologies, preferably GCP (AWS experience is transferrable).
- Serve as a trusted advisor and storyteller, effectively communicating architectural decisions and influencing stakeholders.
- Lead architecture discussions across multiple payment rails, ensuring end-to-end integration, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Work closely with engineering teams, providing guidance, mentoring, and hands-on support as needed.
- Partner with incoming wires architects and other solution architects to ensure consistency and alignment across initiatives.
- Demonstrate curiosity, active listening, and a collaborative mindset while engaging with business partners and vendors.
Basic Qualifications :
- 10+ years’ experience in the banking industry
- Deep understanding of enterprise and modern architecture patterns, including event-driven, domain-driven, layered, and hexagonal/onion architectures.
- Extensive experience with microservices, service decomposition, API gateways, service mesh patterns, and resiliency strategies.
- Strong knowledge of payment orchestration, settlement, clearing systems, fraud mitigation, tokenization, and core banking integration.
- Familiarity with real-time and high-volume transaction systems, low-latency design, and high availability architecture.
- Proficiency in cloud-native platforms, container orchestration (Kubernetes), serverless design, and distributed systems.
- Experience with API lifecycle management, event streaming (Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis), and messaging systems (MQ, RabbitMQ).
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks including PCI-DSS, KYC/AML, FFIEC, and financial industry standards.
- Understanding of security architecture principles including identity and access management, encryption, key management, and zero-trust models.
