This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to become part of team. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for driving a diesel-powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.
What you will do:
- Separate and re-inject lumber that has fallen from packs of lumber being transported from Green Stackers to the Kilns and from Kilns to the dry lumber yard.
- Grease kiln trucks.
- Grease kilns and fan shaft bearings weekly.
- Breakdown dry lumber on the kiln trucks and stack in the designated areas.
- Place green lumber stacks on kiln carts with concrete weights and prepare it for entry into the dry kiln.
- Remove dried lumber from the kiln and place in dry storage area according to length and dimension.
- Reload kilns as needed with green lumber.
- Keep Kiln area and Lumber yard in a clean and organized manner.
- Report any drying defects noticed during day to day tasks, to Supervisor.
- Report any steam leaks to Supervisor.
- Assist Supervisor in daily tasks as needed.
- Assist in maintaining and cleaning of the dry kilns during maintenance periods.
- Strong commitment to working safely
- Performing daily inspections of lift trucks and completing required forms
- Ensuring lift truck maintenance and servicing requirements are met
- Loading and unloading materials in a safe and efficient manner
- Maintaining contact with the supervisor(s) and working to resolve any issues as they may they arise
- Following all regulations, company policies, and procedures
Required skills and experience you will need:
- Preferred kiln forklift experience
- Minimum two years of experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- The desire to learn, grow and succeed
- Industrial experience and post-secondary education would be considered an asset
- Strong commitment to working safely
- Must be able to work rotating shifts
- Must be at least 18 years old and have a HS Diploma/GED
What you will do:
- Must be willing to perform entry level lumberyard duties, housekeeping duties, including use of a shovel, ground keeping, painting, janitorial, etc.
- Must be willing to stack various lengths of lumber
- May be assigned tasked indoors and outdoors, no matter the weather conditions
- Monitor lumber movement
- Move lumber through the process ensuring no lumber cross-ups
- Clear jammed lumber as necessary
- Assist others as necessary
- Perform quality checks
- Perform safety observations
- Follow all Safe Work Procedures
- Follow all Zero Energy State procedures
- Utilize downtime or slow time to enhance the appearance and productivity of the department
- Perform all job assignments in an effective and timely manner with minimal supervision
- Operate necessary equipment according to procedures
- Monitor assigned area and related area visually and via monitor screen.
- Remove/straighten out cross-ups using pike pole or picaroon
- Inspection of equipment
- Servicing and minor adjustments to the equipment (when necessary)
- Preventative maintenance
- Assist maintenance with servicing of equipment
- Cleaning of the equipment
- Documentation and reporting of results
- Daily greasing of necessary equipment and/or related equipment
What you need to be successful:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Excellent safety record

- Demonstrable mechanical aptitude

This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to become part of team. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for driving a diesel-powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.
What you will do:
- Separate and re-inject lumber that has fallen from packs of lumber being transported from Green Stackers to the Kilns and from Kilns to the dry lumber yard.
- Grease kiln trucks.
- Grease kilns and fan shaft bearings weekly.
- Breakdown dry lumber on the kiln trucks and stack in the designated areas.
- Place green lumber stacks on kiln carts with concrete weights and prepare it for entry into the dry kiln.
- Remove dried lumber from the kiln and place in dry storage area according to length and dimension.
- Reload kilns as needed with green lumber.
- Keep Kiln area and Lumber yard in a clean and organized manner.
- Report any drying defects noticed during day to day tasks, to Supervisor.
- Report any steam leaks to Supervisor.
- Assist Supervisor in daily tasks as needed.
- Assist in maintaining and cleaning of the dry kilns during maintenance periods.
- Strong commitment to working safely
- Performing daily inspections of lift trucks and completing required forms
- Ensuring lift truck maintenance and servicing requirements are met

Operator Apprentice
Our Operator Apprentice position is an entry level role with the expectation that self-motivated individuals will advance into progressively skilled positions.
What you will do:
- Maintaining safe work areas, collecting debris and disposing of sawdust and dropped lumber in assigned areas
- Cleaning industrial equipment and workstations
- Relieving production positions; operating various light and heavy industrial machinery
- Showing a willingness and flexibility to perform various job assignments that may change daily
- Supporting our culture of safety by adhering to mill safety policies and procedures at all times
What you need to be successful:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of six (6) months in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures in loud, high-volume environments performing physical tasks throughout the shift
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position which includes walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform all tasks in accordance with West Fraser safety policies and procedures
- Recognize and support our team culture, communicating effectively with all team members
- Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends
- Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check, drug screen test and physical
